The American Alliance of Museums (AAM), with an annual budget of some $10 million, serves as an advocacy group for museums, including setting core standards. AAM is having its 2018 Annual Meeting in Phoenix on May 6-9, 2018. A reader forwarded me an announcement from AAM with regard to a new Code of Conduct applicable to attendees at the Annual Meeting. That Code of Conduct amounts to a speech code restricting acceptable speech in ways that reflect how deeply identity politics has permeated even the museum industry.

Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has written his memoirs, the upcoming book entitled The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations.  As has become increasingly usual, portions of the book are being released prior to its publication. The New York Times is reporting that McCain writes that he regrets selecting then-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (R) as his running mate.  Instead, he wishes he had "followed his gut" and chosen then-Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT).

We reported on Friday about the hearing in federal court in Virginia regarding Paul Manafort's request to have his criminal indictment and case dismissed because it was beyond the jurisdiction of Special Counsel Robert Mueller to prosecute. Statements made by the judge during the hearing generated a lot of news, Manafort Judge: Mueller only really cares about the “prosecution or impeachment” of Trump. See that post for the details on the news reports of the hearing, plus my explanation of why Mueller is exceeding his authority.

West Virginia's GOP Senate primary will take place on Tuesday, and all eyes are on convicted criminal Don Blankenship (R).  Whoever wins Tuesday's GOP primary will face off against current West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin (D), and that is causing Republicans some concern given how important it is for them to keep the Senate in November. Republicans are concerned that West Virginia will turn into another Alabama where another wildcard candidate won the GOP primary but lost the Senate race.

We have covered Pallywood dozens of times. Pallywood is the industry of anti-Israel activists who spread fake images, stories and so on meant to portray Israelis in the worst possible light. Often the fakery is by western activists -- you don't have to be Palestinian to engage in Pallywood. But much of it comes from the phalanx of photographers and videographers who surround -- and sometimes outnumber -- Palestinians involved in hostile actions against Israel.
