Last week, I noted that Texas bucked the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The new instructions said that "essential workers" should have priority over the elderly after the inclusion of racial justice factors in the "expert" assessment when determining who receives the coronavirus vaccine during the next phase of distribution.

Of all the organizations issuing untrustworthy guidance and confusing recommendations, perhaps the World Health Organization has been the worst. As we end 2020, with the pandemic lockdowns destroying businesses and driving people to despair, WHO officials are ginning-up more fear.

I recently noted that the Centers for Disease Control proposed guidelines prioritizing "essential workers" over the elderly, using race to justify the decision. Congress will vote Monday night on a COVID-19 relief bill worth $900 billion along with a $1.4 trillion spending bill to cover the remainder of the 2021 Fiscal Year. The Democrats wanted a $2.2 trillion COVID-19 relief bill before the election, but Republicans offered $900 billion. Long before Joe Biden became the Democratic presidential nominee, reports circulated that the then-77-year-old former VP signaled he'd only commit to serving one term if elected. The second promising coronavirus vaccine from Moderna has tested 94 percent effective at preventing symptomatic illness and appears to prevent the spread of the virus as well. It looks like all systems are go for FDA "emergency use" approval by the end of the week.
The high efficacy of the Moderna vaccine was noted after two doses given 28 days apart. This is about the same level of effectiveness as the Pfizer vaccine.
