The United State has imposed sanctions on a leading Chinese state-owned company for importing Iranian oil. The sanctions placed by the U.S. State Department bar Zhuhai Zhenrong Corporation, one of China's largest state-run oil companies, from "engaging in foreign exchange, banking or property transactions under US jurisdiction," London-based Financial Times reported.

As Iran breaches the limit on its enriched uranium stockpile set under the 2015 nuclear deal, European powers scramble to appease the regime. The European Union has started processing payments to Iran under a new trading mechanism, German media reports confirmed. While French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to rush to Tehran in an attempt to coax the regime into the Obama-era deal.

Iran tried to procure weapons technology to build up its nuclear program in 2018, Germany's federal intelligence service BfV disclosed in its annual report published on Thursday. The intelligence agency found "clear rise in evidence" that Tehran has been working to acquire technical capabilities to enhance its nuclear weapons delivery systems.

Iran will never build nuclear weapons because Islam forbids such a move, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said Tuesday. "It is us who, because of our religious views, will never pursue a nuclear weapon," Zarif remarked. The comments come as Iran speeds up its enrichment of uranium, bringing the Islamic Republic closer to building a nuclear bomb.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is visiting Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, India, Japan and South Korea in an effort to build a "global coalition" against Iran. The Secretary of State wants these five Asian powers to get behind the United States in its campaign of "maximum pressure" on Tehran, but he didn't not rule out a U.S. military response if Tehran were to engage in further acts of aggression.

President Donald Trump is continuing with his policy of "maximum pressure" on Iran, promising "major" sanctions on the regime. "We're putting additional sanctions on [Iran]," he told reporters before leaving for the Camp David. His administration was "moving rapidly" towards rolling out new sanctions, he added.

In a major shift, Germany has acknowledged Iran's involvement in the last week's attacks on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman. German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that their was "strong evidence" that Tehran was responsible for the attacks on the tankers.

The United States has sanctioned Iran's biggest oil company because of its links to the country's Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), a designated terrorist group. Tehran's Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) and its 39 subsidiaries have been providing "financial lifelines to the IRGC," the U.S. Treasury Department said.

Facebook and Twitter have announced the decision to crack down on thousands of Iran-linked accounts carrying out disinformation campaigns in the United States. The move comes after a California-based cybersecurity company, FireEye, exposed an elaborate online network being operated from Iran. Some of the fake accounts from Iran were impersonating Republican congressional candidates, the company disclosed Tuesday.

Iran is close to reaching an oil sales deal with the European Union, in direct violation of the U.S. sanctions, Reuters reported. The EU and Iran were "on the brink" of an oil agreement, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Zarif confirmed Tuesday.

The White House has officially designated Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). In a statement, President Donald Trump said that he and the Department of State "recognizes that Iran is not only a State Sponsor of Terrorism, but that the IRGC actively participates in, finances, and promotes terrorism as a tool of statecraft" and that the IGRC is the Iranian regime's "primary means of directing and implementing its global terrorist campaign."

The European Union wants to challenge the longstanding dominance of the U.S. dollar in oil trade, the French broadcaster EuroNews reported. Brussels has created a working group comprising of representatives from European trade and industry to "challenge the dominance of the dollar" in energy trade and promote the use of euro to price oil imports, the broadcaster said.

In what can only be described as another diplomatic victory for President Donald Trump's administration, European countries have stopped importing Iranian oil. The Iranian regime has admitted that European buyers have refused to touch Iranian oil despite temporary waivers extended to them by the United States. "No European country is buying oil from Iran except Turkey," Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said.

German authorities have banned the Iranian airline Mahan Air from operating in the country amid fears of espionage and terrorism.  Iran's second largest airline has been linked to regime's Islamic Revolutionary Guard, a U.S.-designated terrorist group. The German Federal Aviation Office, equivalent of the U.S. FAA, has barred the airline from landing in the country with intimidate effect, German news outlets reported Monday.
