Trump Impeachment Tag

Surprisingly, I'm not angry at Mitt Romney for his vote to convict Donald Trump for abuse of power and to remove him from office. I disagree with it, strongly, but anger isn't my emotion. "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" is more my emotion. Disgust is more my emotion. Romney has disappointed so many times, I'm numb to him.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) received a lot of criticism about his question that Chief Justice John Roberts rejected during the impeachment trial. Roberts rejected the question because it supposedly names the whistleblower even though people insist no one knows the identity of said whistleblower. Paul used his allotted time on the Senate floor to explain his question and push back against those who called him a hypocrite.

President Donald Trump has literally broken Rep. Adam Schiff. I've enjoyed the House managers, especially Rep. Zoe Lofgren, but Schiff foams at the mouth and rants like a lunatic. In his closing statement, Schiff made up a whole bunch of unlikely scenarios to scare the Senate into convicting Trump.

Mitch McConnell isn't the flashiest person on Capitol Hill. To put it mildly. Chuck Schumer regularly beats McConnell to the TV cameras, and Nancy Pelosi makes grand pronouncements as if the Senate and McConnell don't exist.

The Senate voted not to call additional witnesses and bring forth new evidence 51-49, with Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Mitt Romney (R-UT) voting yay with the Democrats. The Senate then took a recess before voting on a motion from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to have closing arguments on Monday and vote on the articles on Wednesday.
