Julian Castro is running for president in the Democrat primary, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the current news cycle. After a strong debate performance (by Democrat metrics), Castro raised $2.8 million in the second quarter, most of it filtering in after the debate.

There was a recent leak, in violation of court order, of the 911 call made by former Dallas cop Amber Guyger (mugshot in featured image). The call came immediately after she shot and killed Botham Jean when she mistakenly walked into his apartment, thinking it was her apartment and perceived him as an intruder. This post examines some of the legal implications of Guyger's statements during that 911 call.

The private organization We Build the Wall began construction on a border wall in El Paso over the weekend. The group has raised over $20 million on GoFundMe. Former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach told Fox & Friends the group aimed to build the wall near Mount Cristo Rey to fill a "ridiculously large gap" in that section. He claimed that "drug and human smugglers have been taking advantage of it."

You may remember Wendy Davis, the State Senator whose gubernatorial run resulted in a 21 point defeat by now Governor Abbott. All the press wishcasting and fawning couldn't save Davis and her pink Nikes.

A few weeks ago, a viral article by Think Progress accused Chick-fil-A's foundation of actively supporting anti-LGBTQ organizations. The article was cited and reposted by news networks and individual blogs alike, and for the gazillionth time, calls to boycott the world's best chicken sandwich bounced around progressive spheres of the web.
