Professor Vanessa Tyson, the woman who has accused Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax of sexual assault, released a statement yesterday with precise details about what happened that night in 2004. In the statement, she wrote how she reached out to people in Virginia in 2017 when she realized Fairfax planned to run for office. Democratic Rep. Bobby Scott is one of those men. Why is he just now letting this out?

Vanessa Tyson has accused Virginia Lt. Gov Justin Fairfax. After days of only hearing from Fairfax and people attempting to brush aside her claims, Tyson has come forward with her own statement:
What began as consensual kissing quickly turned into a sexual assault. Mr. Fairfax put his hand behind my neck and forcefully pushed my head towards his crotch. Only then did I realize that he had unbuckled his belt, unzipped his pants, and taken out his penis. He then forced his penis into my mouth. Utterly shocked and terrified, I tried to move my head away, but could not because his hand was holding down my neck and he was much stronger than me. As I cried and gagged, Mr. Fairfax forced me to perform oral sex on him. I cannot believe, given my obvious distress, that Mr. Fairfax thought this forced sexual act was consensual. To be very clear, I did not want to engage in oral sex with Mr. Fairfax and I never gave any form of consent. Quite the opposite. I consciously avoided Mr. Fairfax for the remainder of the Convention and I never spoke to him again.

Last week, reports came out that Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) faces a lawsuit from a former staffer who claimed the congresswoman fired her after she said a former employee of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) raped her in 2015. Jackson Lee has now resigned as CBC Foundation chairwoman and stepped down temporarily from a House Judiciary subcommittee chairmanship.

In December 2017, The Washington Post reported how the Office of Compliance for Congress paid over $17 million for 264 settlements and awards over various violations, including sexual harassment. Now Congress has agreed on a bill that members of Congress will be responsible for their own settlements instead of the tax payer. As of now, "settlements are paid through taxpayer-funded accounts members use to pay for office salaries and expenses."

For some reason, Sports Illustrated chose Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who this summer accused Supreme Court nominee (now Justice) Brett Kavanaugh of a sexual assault 40 years ago, to announce the magazine chose former gymnast Rachael Denhollander to receive its Inspiration of the Year award. Denhollander became the first gymnast to speak out against former Michigan State and USA gymnast doctor Larry Nassar for sexual assault. WHY?! Now everyone is paying attention to Ford instead of Denhollander and other Nassar victims.

Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who accused now Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct over 30 years ago, emerged and released a statement to end the fundraising someone set up for her a few months ago. The GoFundMe account raised $647,610 in the past two months with the last donation coming in at $50 five days ago. Ford wrote on the page:
The funds you have sent through GoFundMe have been a godsend. Your donations have allowed us to take reasonable steps to protect ourselves against frightening threats, including physical protection and security for me and my family, and to enhance the security for our home. We used your generous contributions to pay for a security service, which began on September 19 and has recently begun to taper off; a home security system; housing and security costs incurred in Washington DC, and local housing for part of the time we have been displaced. Part of the time we have been able to stay with our security team in a residence generously loaned to us.

I wonder if the Democrats will react the same way they did when Christine Blasey Ford accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault. It looks like the Democrats have the same situation on their hands because Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH), the man running against incumbent Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown, said that "multiple women" have told him that Brown allegedly sexually assaulted them in the late 1980s.
