The Lunch Pail Republicans have formally endorsed Dick Lugar.

The group was formed in early January 2012 specifically to fight Indiana’s right to work law which was signed into law in February.

The Lunch Pail Republicans are funded by a union PAC, as detailed in this entry at RedState:

Politico mentions a new poll showing...

While Richard Mourdock is rising, don’t count Dick Lugar out.  He’s throwing everything he has at Mourdock this week, each day multiple new accusations.  A poll just out shows Lugar with a two point lead, via National Journal:

Sen. Richard Lugar and Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock are in a dead heat according...

This is the third and last in a series examining Dick Lugar’s failure on policy towards Iran, which consistently exhibited wishful thinking about appeasing the regime in the hope the Iranians would negotiate in good faith over their missile and nuclear programs, and their export of terrorism:

Lugar seeks to take Mourdock down with him

I have serious problems with Dick Lugar’s record, particularly on his alleged foreign policy expertise.

As documented here, Lugar has engaged in repeated wishful thinking on Iran (one more post in the series still to come), and irresponsibly vouched for Obama’s foreign policy credentials just three weeks before the 2008 election.

But, there...

The Young Guns Network, and its YG Action Fund, were started by two former aides to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.

The Young Guns have infuriated supporters of Richard Mourdock in the Indiana Senate primary race, as well as many conservatives who had no stake in the race, by spending over $100,000...

Dick Lugar has announced that his campaign will target cell phone users browsing the internet in zip codes where Richard Mourdock events are taking place.

The targeted ads will repeat the misleading claim, already debunked by FactCheck.org, that Mourdock cheated on taxes.  This is yet another sign...

Dick Lugar’s record on Iran (and Middle East policy in general) has not received as much attention as other Lugar failures, such as his vouching for Obama’s foreign policy credentials just three weeks before the 2008 election.

Lugar consistently has shown what generously could be characterized as wishful thinking about negotiations with the Iranian regime.  Lugar’s Iran history deserves the...

A series of events in the past few days give every indication that Dick Lugar is losing the primary race, and his campaign devolves into almost bizarre and frantic accusations against Mourdock.

Two recent polls show Mourdock with 1 point and 5 point leads, respectively.

While Lugar’s campaign had denigrated the polling because the...

Dick Lugar’s strong point in the campaign against Richard Mourdock is Lugar’s claim to foreign policy expertise.

Yet an examination of Lugar’s history shows consistent wishful thinking on Iran, something which will be the subject of posts over the next two weeks in the run up to the May 8 primary.

For today, let’s focus...

I realize that all politicians are narcissists to an extent, but judging the value of a political movement on whether it helps you or not seems a bit, shall we say, self-centered.

In one of the more curious comments so far in the challenge by Richard Mourdock to Dick Lugar, Lugar said...

A boycott based on deeply held beliefs

Remember the BP boycott?

Apparently, this owner does not even though his vehicle has a “Boycott BP” sticker on it.  The gas was probably a penny cheaper than the boycott-free stations down the street.

From reader John:

I spotted this guy filling up at a BP station in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It must be hard to remember the boycott du jour.

Also, thanks for all the great posts on Lugar v. Mourdock. Keep up the good work!

I think things are looking good. For what it’s worth, I’ve seen probably 70 Mourdock signs in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, compared to exactly one yard sign for Lugar. Not exactly scientific results, but I think telling nonetheless.

Your quote: “In order to win, Lugar needs to lie about Mourdock; in order to win, Mourdock needs to tell the truth about Lugar.” couldn’t be more accurate, and I was happy to hear Mark Levin talk about that on his radio show a few days ago.

Dick Lugar touts his foreign policy expertise and influence, something which Brian Bolduc at National Review today finds is suspect.

One thing Lugar does not tout is that he joined Harry Reid in 2007 in announcing that the surge in Iraq was not working and should be stopped.

I think the Richard Mourdock campaign finally has hit on a theme which needs repeating.

Richard Lugar is running a desperate campaign, trying to distract from his record and to conjure up bizarre claims against Mourdock, such as the “Confederate Tie,” and false and misleading claims about Mourdock’s record.

Bringing out Mitch Daniels...
