I'm so old, I remember when it wasn't controversial to shake hands with a sitting president. But in the era of Idiocracy, being friendly with someone the media abhors renders you a vulnerable target and this is the Vince Vaughn edition. Vaughn, actor and funny man, is a well known libertarian, which is definitely not Republican. Not that it matters nor should it matter. During Monday's College Football Championship Game, Vaughn shook hands and briefly chatted with Trump. And now people of the internet are angry.

Legal Insurrection readers will recall I covered a book entitled "The Polar Bear Catastrophe that Never Happened" by Dr. Susan Crockford. The University of Victoria professor analyzes the latest data and reviews the questionable values used in official estimates, concluding that polar bears are actually thriving. She has been fired from her position at the university.
After 15 years as an adjunct assistant professor, Ms. Crockford said the University of Victoria rejected without explanation in May her renewal application, despite her high profile as a speaker and author stemming from her widely cited research on polar bears and dog domestication.

This past week, Netflix released Dave Chapelle's newest stand up special, Sticks and Stones. The special immediately became controversial given Chapelle's crassness and indifference towards the left's sacred cows. He mocks the LGBTQ movement, castigates the #MeToo movement, called women b****es, mocked rape victims, used the homophobic slur f****t and dressed Jussie Smollett down.

Professor Samuel Abrams is a conservative-leaning tenured professor of politics at Sarah Lawrence College. He is active in Heterodox Academy, a group of almost 2000 academics devoted to intellectual diversity on campus. Prof. Abrams recently wrote an op-ed for the New York Times about the lack of ideological diversity among administrators at his school and elsewhere. The column, titled Think Professors Are Liberal? Try School Administrators, brought together research Prof. Abrams had done on left-leaning bias among college professors and administrators, and how it stifles open debate.
