2020 Democratic Primary Tag

If you happened to miss the first round of Democrat debates (and who could blame you?), you may not have heard what 2020 Democrat contender Marianne Williamson had to say. She wants to defeat Trump, she intoned, with love. She also said that her first move if elected will be to call the Prime Minister of New Zealand to tell her America is going to be the best place to raise children. I kid you not.

During the crowded Democrat presidential debate, preference was given first to Elizabeth Warren, who bombed her big opportunity and so shifted to Kamala Harris. Less popular candidates were given substantially less air time and were frequently iced out (see Delaney) and all but completely ignored. Both Andrew Yang and Marianne Williamson claim their mics were shut off unless they were called on, unlike other candidates whose mics were on throughout the entire debate.

Many pundits thought New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio turned in a surprisingly strong performance in the first Democratic debate on Wednesday night. Less than 24 hours later, de Blasio destroyed the positive coverage he was receiving by quoting Che Guevara in Miami.

The second Democratic debate is officially in the books and as Kemberlee wrote last night, the clear winner was illegal immigrants. To varying degrees, every candidate on the stage expressed an open borders position, with several promising ways to further incentivize migrants to attempt to take that dangerous trek across the border.

OK, so I hope tonight's debate is not as chaotic and a mess so I can provide better coverage than last night. I wonder if they'll try to out Spanish each other tonight. Anyway, tonight from 9PM ET to 11PM, ten more Democratic presidential candidates will take the stage in Miami.

The first night of the Democratic Debate was unimpressive. Most of the candidates were trying to out-liberal the others. It was all so, shall we say, unimpressive. The moderators clearly favored Elizabeth Warren, repeatedly going back to her for questions, particularly at the beginning.

Ten of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates will take the stage tonight for a debate while ten more will appear tomorrow. It was everything we knew it would be: chaotic, loud, and an overall mess.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has spent a lot of time over the last several months traveling to different states and assuring Democratic voters she is willing to do whatever it takes to buy win their votes on issues like reparations for the African American community and the gay community, as well as for Native Americans. She's also promised "free" childcare and "free" college access. But over the weekend, the 2020 presidential candidate took the opportunity to remind people that she's all-in on the abortion fight, too, as the DC Examiner reports:
"It is not 1952," the Massachusetts senator said on Saturday about her work in the upper chamber to expand abortion rights. "You're not going to lock women back in the kitchen. You are not going to tell us what to do."

The South Bend Police Union released a scathing statement against Mayor Pete Buttigieg, a 2020 Democrat presidential candidate, over his handling of a white cop shooting and killing a black man. The union claimed that Buttigieg has exploited this incident for political gain, which has driven "a wedge between law enforcement officers and the community they took an oath to serve."
