Legal Insurrection has blogged a few times these past two years that Democrats have quietly discussed plans to find someone to primary Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Republicans have also jumped on the idea. At least seven have filed to run against Ocasio-Cortez in the Democrat-heavy 14th Congressional district.

Former political journalist Mark Halperin fell from grace in 2017 after numerous women accused him of sexual misconduct and harassment. Politico reported this weekend that Halperin has a new book coming out soon about how to beat President Donald Trump. The women who accused him of misconduct not only lashed out at the publishing company, but the Democratic strategists who helped him.

New York City Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson determined multimillionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide by hanging himself:
“After careful review of all investigative information, including complete autopsy findings, the determination on the death of Jeffrey Epstein is below — Cause: Hanging. Manner: Suicide.”

Former South Carolina Governor and US House Rep. Mark Sanford announced he will make a decision by Labor Day if he will launch a primary challenge against President Donald Trump in 2020. From CNN:
Sanford told CNN's Jake Tapper that he's been encouraged to run for president by people who "have said we need to have a conversation about what it means to be a Republican."

Rumors have started to float around that Corey Lewandowski, a former campaign manager to then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, plans to run for the Senate in New Hampshire. Those rumors gained fuel after news came out that Lewandowski will join Trump in New Hampshire on Thursday.

Stacey Abrams, who has not yet admitted she lost the Georgia governor's race fair and square, has tried to remain relevant with the mainstream media more than happy to help. Abrams sat down with The New York Times to discuss her decision not to jump into the 2020 presidential race, but would not mind running as a vice presidential candidate for any of the Democratic candidates.

President Donald Trump's administration decided to delay tariffs on big items such as laptops, smartphones, and toys made in China until December 15. From The Wall Street Journal:
Trade talks appeared in jeopardy after the Trump administration threatened on Aug. 1 to extend tariffs of 10% to $300 billion in Chinese imports not currently taxed, including many consumer goods. They would come on top of 25% tariffs imposed on $250 billion in imports from China.

Liberal comedian Sarah Silverman said on "The Bill Simmons Podcast" she recently lost a role in a movie after the filmmakers discovered a picture of her in blackface from 2007. From The Hollywood Reporter:
"I recently was going to do a movie, a sweet part, then at 11 p.m. the night before they fired me because they saw a picture of me in blackface from that episode. I didn't fight it," Silverman shared with Simmons. She said that though she understood, she's not that person anymore: "They hired someone else who is wonderful but who has never stuck their neck out. It was so disheartening. It just made me real real sad, because I really kind of devoted my life to making it right."

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) confirmed the committee has launched "formal impeachment proceedings" against President Donald Trump even without Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's blessing. From Fox News:
“This is formal impeachment proceedings,” Nadler said. “We are investigating all the evidence, we’re gathering the evidence and we will at the conclusion of this, hopefully by the end of the year, vote to, vote articles of impeachment to the House floor or we won’t. That’s a decision that we’ll have to make. But that -- that’s exactly the process we’re in right now.”

Twitter locked out @Team_Mitch, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's campaign account, after it posted pictures of people protesting outside of his home and literally calling for his head. That meant the account could not post new tweets. The social media platform took this action even though it allowed the hashtag #MassacreMitch to trend for days after the shootings in Dayton and El Paso.

Everything is a white supremacist slur! Dan McCready, the Democrat running for North Carolina's 9th District House seat, suggested that his Republican opponent Dan Bishop used a white supremacist slur when his ad called Democrats clowns after he shared a Daily Kos article trying to push "an obscure alt-right meme."

TONE DOWN THE RHETORIC. Guess what, leftists. You cannot have it both ways. You want President Donald Trump to tone down his rhetoric then you guys must do the same thing. First, we had Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) tweet out San Antonio donors because they fuel "a campaign of hate that labels Hispanic immigrants as 'invaders.'" Then we had MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace stress that Trump talks "about exterminating Latinos" during a conversation with USA Today columnist Raul Reyes. Now Reyes isn't innocent either as he claimed Trump "basically declared open season on Latinos."

The New York Times published a piece on President Donald Trump's response to the two deadly shootings with the title TRUMP URGES UNITY VS. RACISM. The newspaper used the correct headline because that's exactly what Trump said in his speech. However, it went against the leftist narrative's to push gun control even though they demanded Trump condemn white supremacy. The left and Democratic candidates blasted The New York Times, which changed the headline to appease them.

On Saturday, a man shot up a Walmart in El Paso, killing 20 people and injuring 26 people. One law enforcement agent identified the suspect in custody as 21-year-old Patrick Crusius. A few hours after the massacre, news circulated that Crusius published a four-page manifesto filled with racist language and hatred for immigrants on 4chan and 8chan forums.

On Saturday, 24-year-old Connor Betts went on a shooting rampage in Dayton, OH. He killed nine people, including his sister, and injured 27. Like other murderers, the actions of Betts did not surprise those who knew him. In fact, classmates and acquaintances knew for a long time Betts had it in him to cause so much death. His Twitter account lavished praise on Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and hatred on President Donald Trump along with ICE and the police.
