Kemberlee Kaye is the Senior Contributing Editor of Legal Insurrection, where she has worked since 2014 and is the Director of Operations and Editorial Development for the Legal Insurrection Foundation. She also serves as the Managing Editor for CriticalRace.org, a research project of the Legal Insurrection Foundation.

She has a background working in immigration law, and as a grassroots organizer, digital media strategist, campaign lackey, and muckraker. Over the years Kemberlee has worked with FreedomWorks, Americans for Prosperity, James O'Keefe's Project Veritas, and US Senate re-election campaigns, among others.

If you need a case study in campaign desperation, I've got one for you. In the race for Texas' 2nd Congressional District (encompassing much of north and west Houston, Kingwood too), soon to be vacated by the long-serving and retiring Rep. Ted Poe, Rep. Kevin Roberts has gotten downright nasty toward his Republican runoff opponent, former Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw.

If you're running for Senate in Texas, coastal celebrity support ain't gonna do jack to get you over the finish line. Nevertheless, Sarah Jessica Parker is the latest celebrity to publicly show support for Rep. Beto O'Rourke, the Democratic candidate running against incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz.

Democrats are mourning the political loss of resistance fighter and New York AG, Eric Schneiderman, who resigned in disgrace Monday night. Ronan Farrow (who is kicking ass and taking names) along with Jane Mayer were first to report allegations made by four women, all who claim Schneiderman was physically abusive. At least one of the women was not romantically involved with the now former AG. Three of the relationships were consensual, but the alleged violence was not.

In the next few weeks, retired Lt. Colonel Oliver North will take over as president of the National Rifle Association. Lt. Colonel North is currently an NRA board member, served on Reagan's National Security Council, and is an all-around badass.

One of the best parts of the Trump era is watching how internet and Hollywood cultures react when a big megaphone wielding celebrity steps outside of progressive boundaries. Roseanne Barr has always been that person, to a certain extent, the difference is that now, she's outside of the Hollywood mainstream and seems to enjoy needling everyone else who, in her view, has shifted leftward while she's stayed put.

Saturday, May 12 is the first official Cultural Appreciation Day here at Legal Insurrection. If you've followed the news lately (and we assume that if you're a regular reader, you do), you've been MADE aware that something as innocuous as a thrift store prom purchase triggers half the internet. The social justice warriors beam in from social justice utopia to be judgy, vile, and completely ignorant bullies over something they call "cultural appropriation."

This is the story that wouldn't die. Trump's alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels is back in the headlines thanks to Trump's own attorney, Rudy Giuliani. During a Fox News segment Wednesday night, Giuliani said Trump reimbursed attorney Michael Cohen $130,000 over a period of months. A payment some claim was "hush money." Guiliani revived the allegations in order to dispell any suspicion of campaign finance impropriety.

Former Trump campaign aide Michael Caputo did not mince words during a hearing with Senate Intelligence Committee who is still pursuing an investigation into alleged Trump campaign/Russia collusion. Caputo claims the investigation has forced his family out of their home and racked up a whopping $125,000 in legal fees to date.

According to a report in the Financial Times, North Korea released three American detainees. Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak-song, Kim Sang Duk (aka Tony Kim) were released from labor camps and sent to Pyongyang for medical treatment. The release complies with one of President Trump's requests prior to the upcoming summit.

The outrage machine needs to get itself together. Seriously. The internet is harassing a poor 18-year-old gal because she wore a traditional Chinese dress to prom. Keziah Daum is accused of committing the heinous crime of cultural appropriation (which only exists in the minds of those without intellectual or cultural depth of any kind).

Tuesday morning Facebook users found a weird new option -- the ability to mark posts as "hate speech." My entire timeline was full of posts skewering the latest Facebook feature. Then, without warning, the report-everything-you-don't-like-without-recognizing-the-subjectivity-of-your-actions option vanished.
