The suppression of free speech on campus is not just an American problem. This week, Cambridge University, one of the world’s oldest and greatest, showed it is just as feckless as Yale, Berkeley, and Middlebury. Cambridge decided to cancel an invited speech by Jordan Peterson, a prominent psychology professor at the University of Toronto. Portland State couldn’t have done it better.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Sydney Aiello, a survivor of the Parkland School Shooting took her own life Sunday. Burdened with severe PTSD and survivor's guilt, Aiello struggled to attend college classes, her fear of being in a classroom so overwhelming.

The United Kingdom should be taking its last steps as a member of the European Union. Instead, even after two years, the UK is dragging its feet after parliament rejected Prime Minister Theresa May's deal and voted not to leave the EU without the deal. Caught in a Catch-22 parliament voted to extend the Brexit deadline, which should have taken place on March 29. The EU agreed and set April 12 as the new deadline if parliament supports May's deal.

What Beto O'Rourke lacks in policy chops, he seems to make up for in fundraising abilities. During the 2018 midterms he amassed a war chest of $80 million dollars. After officially launching his 2020 presidential bid, he raked in over $6 million in 24 hours. Now Beto has attracted some of Obama's top funders and a former Obama aide.

Germany won't be meeting its NATO spending target this year, the country's finance ministry disclosed. "Defense spending is projected to fall well short of NATO's 2 percent target," German state broadcaster DW News reported Wednesday.

There were news reports recently that during Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming trip to D.C., during which he will meet with Trump, the United States would recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights. The Heights had only been Syrian territory since 1948, after the end of the French Mandate, Syrian independence, and the Arab attempt to destroy Israel.  Syria used the Golan Heights to aim artillery and sniper fire on Israel. Israel captured the Golan Heights during the 1967 war, and almost lost it during the surprise attack in the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

October brought us the premiere of a highly publicized courtroom drama about the trial of America's most prolific serial killer. Based on a book Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer by conservative filmmakers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer, scripted by Andrew Klavan, directed by Nick Searcy and starred by Alfonso Rachel and Dean Cain, the movie was popular among conservative movie fans who wanted to support filmmakers on their side. The story follows the real-life trial of Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia back-alley abortion doctor who performed late-term abortions in unsanitary conditions with untrained staff.  Several people died due to his improper and grotesque procedures.

Mark Morgan, President Barack Obama's Border Patrol chief, has come out again to speak about the the southern border. He said this morning the border crisis "is absolutely a national emergency." From Fox Business:
“It’s absolutely a national emergency,” he said during an interview with Maria Bartiromo on “Mornings with Maria, Opens a New Window. ” referring to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements' (ICE) release of hundreds of migrants detained at the U.S.-Mexico border because of overcrowding at detention facilities.
