The US political reporting media is made up mainly of democrats. It is almost as if the communists have accomplished one of their most important published goals. Taking over one of The United States two major political parties.
Sometimes intent can be uncovered in what they say. This morning I read a story about the Redding CA fires via the L.A. Times. When I got to the end of the story, I found this pitch to get subscribers….
“Already a subscriber? Thank you for your support. If you are not, please consider subscribing today.”
Note the word “support”. You support a cause. When you buy a product you are, well, buying a product, not supporting a cause. That is unless the business views themselves as a cause and you, buying their product, are a supporter of that cause.
Interesting mindset.
Anchovy, I don’t think it’s as you’re framing it. Remember the old Bartles and Jaymes ads? They always ended with “Thank you for your support.” I think the Dog Trainer of Patterico fame is thanking folks for buying the product, though I’m sure many are putting it to Patterico’s recommended use.
Could be, except Bartles and Jaymes didn’t write editorials.
The industry I worked in an industry which was quite adversarial, going head to head formidable and monied opponents. We had a joke about our opponents not understanding our nature, in that they learned the hard way we enjoyed wrestling with and getting the better of them.
I think that this is one aspect of Trump. He goads opponents and then humiliates them. Media has been wrestling with media from the beginning, and now he goaded them into proving he was right.
Mainstream media has been becoming increasingly irrelevant, they know this at a gut level, even as they thresh around and grandstand.
