Houston Restaurant Forced to Shut Down Social Media Accounts After Posting Picture With AG Session

The media is at least partially to blame for recreating and then stoking the virtual mob

One of Houston’s most loved Tex-Mex restaurants, El Tiempo, (they have great margaritas, btw) was harassed into shutting down all of their social media accounts Saturday afternoon after sharing a picture of the restaurant’s owner, Roland Laurenzo and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Sessions was in town to discuss immigration issues.

From the Houston Chronicle:

El Tiempo did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but the chain’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages were down Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, owner Roland Laurenzo posted a photo with a caption saying it was an “honor” to serve Sessions, who was in town to discuss immigration enforcement with law enforcement officers. The post was quickly condemned by customers, some of whom called for a boycott.

Laurenzo soon after responded, writing that the photo “does not represent us supporting (Sessions’) positions.”

“El Tiempo does not in anyway support the practice of separating children from parents or any other practices of the government relative to immigration,” Laurenzo wrote, according to CultureMap. “The posting of a photograph of the Attorney General at one of our restaurants does not represent us supporting his positions. The secret service contacted us that a government official was coming to dinner at our establishment and his identity was not know until he walked through the door.”

“The man came to dinner and he was served without us even thinking about the political situations. We were preoccupied with the secret service and catering to their wants and needs. The only thing on our minds was serving great food and giving great customer service. It was posted without review or approval by ownership and this has lead to everyone jumping to conclusions that somehow we are involved in this political matter. We don’t approve of anyone separating parents and children.”

Because it needs repeating (apparently), there is more to life than politics. It’s also possible to stand next to someone who has accomplished much in life while also disagreeing with some of the things this person thinks without losing your damn mind. This feat is known as “maturity.”

What an incredible waste of life, beauty, and enjoyment to view every human interaction through the scope of politics.

The left wants a Civil War. They believe they are in the right to push hatred throughout the country. They want people afraid for expressing anything in support of Trump. This is about suppression of votes, suppression of having any views other than their own.

Be fearful if the left gets power. They are truly fascist like in how they want to control everything. I’ve never seen a group that is so miserable, no matter if the win or lose, it is never enough, it needs to go further, harder, with ever more control over everyone other than their never ending quest to destroy life and society as we know it.

H8TRS gonna H8T!

It’ll be interesting to hear what Michael Berry’s take on this is today.

Apparently, Houston’s police chief (very leftist) ate with Sessions and reported they had a very good conversation, though they openly disagreed on things. I wonder if he’s been attacked by the mob?

As long as did and continues to show no respect I’m sure the mob will give him a pass. Show even one ounce of respect, and you are enemy #1.

Not to mention the specific policy mentioned (separation of children from alleged parents) originated with His Imperial Executiveness’ administration and the Ninth Circus. But don’t ever expect the Houston Chronic to provide that bit of information, it doesn’t reflect well on “The Won”.

Every time I read about these incidence it makes me wonder it just one rogue cook in the kitchen could make it a really unpleasant experience for someone in the Trump admin. The hate and anger that has been stirred up by the Trump opposition (not just the Dems) is now so thick, I wouldn’t trust food service for sure.

I’d guess that at least one Secret Service agent was in the kitchen for that very reason.

      1) The SS works for the Treasury Department, not the misnamed DOJ.
      2) What basis do you have for trusting either the Secret Service or any DOJ organization after the last 10 years? They are not on our country’s side.

I didn’t say they worked for DOJ, and I didn’t say I trusted them. The quote in the article referred to his protection as secret service, and I don’t have any reason to dispute their version. Pure logic would dictate that at least one would be stationed in the kitchen, as I noted.

For the umpteenth time, we don’t have an IMMIGRATION problem …. we have an INVASION problem. Don’t play funny with words.

We have an incentive problem, in that collecting and deporting illegals one at a time is very expensive and a slow process. So we need a really compelling incentive to make illegals flee America as fast as they can. A good start would be total asset forfeiture when an illegal has to be chased down. If they leave on their own they should be allowed to take all but 20% of their assets.

Amend the 14th Amendment to end the anchor baby problem, so that their children never get citizenship if their parents are illegals.

Amazing that those on the Left, who supposedly are so much smarter & better educated than the the Right, cannot see how hateful and disruptive this behavior is. They are the ones acting like fascists demanding everyone think as they think. Sometimes you have to wonder if we cannot ever return from this pit of hate.

Obama promised to remake the country. He succeeded to the point where, accurately or not, I don’t think we can ever come back. The young are frankly too stupid to grasp what’s being done to them and the left has become evil incarnate. My gut tells me that the next time the left manages to seize power will be the last even remotely honest election this country has.

Unfortunately, this type of behavior is becoming normal, across the political spectrum. I live in a very small, very conservative place. It has now become the “thing” to identify left-leaning business owners and boycott their businesses – including those who do NOT inject their personal political views into their business and who attempt to keep that information private. Truly, we’ve become a nation of boobs.

“identify left-leaning business owners and boycott their businesses – including those who do NOT inject their personal political views into their business and who attempt to keep that information private.”

We didn’t make those rules …

Milhouse in reply to The Packetman. | August 13, 2018 at 1:05 pm

      Neither did those business owners.

        txvet2 in reply to Milhouse. | August 13, 2018 at 7:59 pm

The Red Hen made the decision for them.

          Milhouse in reply to txvet2. | August 13, 2018 at 8:06 pm

How could it do so? In what sense could it possibly have been authorized to act on their behalf? Those businesses have done absolutely nothing wrong, they have behaved in a completely civilized fashion, and yet you propose viciously harming them simply out of resentment for what some other businesses have done?! What is this, “Goldberg, Iceberg, what’s the difference?”

          txvet2 in reply to txvet2. | August 13, 2018 at 9:56 pm

“”yet you propose viciously harming them simply out of resentment for what some other businesses have done?””

That’s a flat lie. I didn’t propose anything of the kind. I made a simple statement of fact. When the owner of the Red Hen threw Sarah Sanders out, she opened every leftist business up to retaliation.

          Milhouse in reply to txvet2. | August 14, 2018 at 2:58 am

That’s not a statement of fact, it’s a statement of a very unjust opinion. You posted to support Packetman and the small-minded villagers of whom Anonamom complained, saying that it is right and just to harm these businesses, which have no connection whatsoever with the Red Hen, for what the Red Hen’s owner did.

Of course, if that were happening, there would be 24/7 network coverage as soon as the local MSM affiliates saw it and passed it on.

Anyone seen that coverage? I didn’t think so.

Anonamom in reply to SDN. | August 13, 2018 at 7:13 pm

Sweetie, we don’t HAVE “local MSM affiliates” here. When I say small, I mean SMALL.

I just have one suggested correction to the article:

“The post was quickly condemned by customers, some of whom called for a boycott.”

A more correct sentence would be:

“The post was quickly condemned by a bunch of screaming garbage babies who never had been customers, a small screeching number of which demanded vengeance and made dire threats in the hopes of seeing another innocent business crushed beneath their Birkenstocks so they could brag about it on Facebook.”

As a business owner who receives many online reviews, the fact the media companies refuse to verify if the people reviewing or commenting on a business have ever visited the establishment encourages fake behavior online. We have received negative reviews for goods or services we don’t provide and are told the media companies encourage free communication and do not censor comments. We have also received comments that begin “I have never been to this business but” and cannot get action taken. Social media is feeding much of the animosity in the country and I believe it is deliberate.

And it isn’t always about politics. I see a lot of online reviews of local restaurants and businesses that allege all kinds of nasty behavior and conditions that I have never observed. I suspect the majority of them are written by their competition.

“Social media is feeding much of the animosity in the country and I believe it is deliberate.”

Social media has become a social DISEASE…

“the media companies refuse to verify if the people reviewing or commenting on a business have ever visited the establishment”

How would they do that? Especially since many business owners have a habit of suing anyone who leaves a bad review if they can be identified.

It’s also possible to stand next to someone who has accomplished much in life while also disagreeing with some of the things this person thinks without losing your damn mind.

Sooooo…..being photographed standing next to Ellison or Farrakhan or Coates or Maduro or Erdogan or Rafsanjani – none of that would mean anything?

Remember all those hundreds of millions of dollars funneled into Leftist organizations during the Obama years and the thousands of groups funded to be radical political cells? This is bearing fruit since Trump (or any opponent) gains position. It is now becoming a well oiled machine.

The Leftist-twit perpetual outrage mob would have reacted with approval, if only the restaurant’s owner had photographed himself posing with some local MS-13 gangmembers, now that Leftist media propagandists are hard at work, attempting to provide Americans with a rose-tinted whitewashing of that vicious gang’s reputation.

This is unfortunate. It draws sympathy to Sessionszzz, a man who has done a great deal to undermine the rule of law in this country.

It’s one of my favorite restaurants. Sorry to see that Lorenzo caved to the mob.

“This feat is known as “maturity.””
