Just before Christmas, Legal Insurrection noted reports that North Korea was loading potentially deadly anthrax bacteria onto intercontinental ballistic missiles as part of a biological weapons test program. The stated goal is to eventually deliver a payload of deadly pathogens to the United States. The challenge facing the North Koreans is that the heat generated from the missiles launch, flight, and strike is deadly to the lifeforms on board.

Oberlin College is suffering financially and in enrollment after several years of negative publicity regarding racial, gender, anti-Semitic and social justice activism on campus. I documented that history in September 2017, Radical fallout: Oberlin College enrollment drops, causing financial problems. Those financial and enrollment problems also more recently received attention at Inside Higher Ed.

Democrat Candidate Shelly Simonds is attempting to stop the random selection of a winner for a tied Virginia House race. Wednesday, the names of each candidate will be placed in separate film canisters. Those canisters will be placed into a larger container, then one will be drawn at random. The name drawn will be declared the winner of the race. But not if Simonds is successful in her legal challenge.

The Democrats honestly believe they can take back the House of Representatives in 2018 despite needing 25 seats. Who knows if that will happen, but it's a possibility they could put a dent into the GOP majority. After all, back in October, the Cook Political Report (CPR) changed ratings in 12 districts, showing vulnerability for the GOP. Earlier today I blogged about Politico's list of top Senate races to watch. The publication did the same for the House and chose 10 of the important battles.

It's more blessed to give than to receive and Americans did an awful lot of giving this holiday season. A longer holiday season between Thanksgiving and Christmas and a full weekend just before Christmas helped fuel higher sales than recent years past.

Last Thursday, the United Nations (UN) voted to condemn America's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and decision to move its embassy to the city. Professor Jacobson pointed out in a follow up post that the vote gave President Donald Trump to turn that loss into a win with money. The UN loves to crap on America, even though we host the UN and contribute a ton of money into the organization that has basically become useless. That is exactly what Trump has done: $285 million budget cut to the UN. There may be more cuts to come, too.

The GOP now only holds a one seat majority in the Senate since Democrat Doug Jones defeated Republican Roy Moore, who faced numerous sexual misconduct allegations, in the Alabama Senate special election. That loss made the 2018 elections even more crucial for the GOP. Is it possible for the party to keep or even add to their majority? Or will Democrats pounce and take over? Politico listed these races as the ones to watch in the new year.

The Tamimis of Nabi Saleh have been working hard to incite a “third intifada” for many years. As I have documented previously, one of their favorite tactics is sending their children out to provoke confrontations with Israeli soldiers while surrounded by photographers and videographers. It is a cynical but effective exploitation of children - if the Israeli soldier reacts it's a story of Israeli brutality; if the Israeli soldier doesn't react it's a story of Israeli cowardice. Regardless, the Tamimi media operation immediately circulates the videos and photos to biased international journalists and activists to create a false impression of Israeli abuse of children. Ahed Tamimi, with her striking blond hair, has starred prominently in these staged incidents for many years, as has her younger brother Mohammed.

President Trump has an amazing knack for pushing leftist buttons.  His trolling of the media is epic; they always bite, chasing his squirrels and making genuine donkeys of themselves in the process. The latest example of this involves a "saying 'Merry Christmas' again" tweet and an ad released by America First Policies.  The left is, predictably and hilariously, melting down.

Before America was free of the chains of unrepresented, overtaxed tyranny, we had to best the greatest army in the world. In a make or break moment for the Revolutionary War, General George Washington concocted a plan to cross the Delaware River and lead a surprise attack on the Hessians camped around Trenton, New Jersey. A victory in Trenton would boost morale, Washington reasoned.
