If you're a fan of classic rock, odds are you know and love the music of Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers Band. Gregg Allman passed away this weekend of a combination of health issues at the age of 69. Deadline Hollywood reports:
Gregg Allman, Pillar of Namesake Southern Rock Band, Dies at 69 Gregg Allman, the singer and organist for the Allman Brothers Band and progenitor of the blues-inflected genre of Southern Rock, has died at age 69.

Authorities have arrested Jacob Schwartz, a New York City employee and president of the Manhattan Young Democrats, for allegedly possessing child pornography. The NYPD Computer Crimes division began an investigation in March and Schwartz surrendered his computer. The detectives "found more than 3,000 images and 89 videos depicting girls as young as 6 months old performing sex acts on adult men."

The Marshall Plan, aka the European Recovery Program, was devised as a means of rebuilding a decimated Europe after World War II. The radical left apparently recognizes, if not accepts ownership of, the decimation their policies have wreaked on America and its people because they are now proposing a "Marshall Plan for America" designed to "rebuild" the America they've all-but-destroyed. John Podesta's Center for American Progress (CAP) is the leader of this plan, signalling that the "centrist" Hillary Clinton arm of the Democratic Party has embraced the socialist-Democrat wing headed up by Bernie Sanders.

CAP is suddenly concerned with the white American working and middle classes "left behind" by the regressive left's identity politics, income redistribution efforts, and SJW fervor.  Their solution to the "forgotten man"?  More central planning, slightly muted but still prevalent identity politics, and of course and always, more income redistribution.

In a move that is sure to go uncelebrated on the regressive left and to leave many Trump supporters scratching their heads, the State Department has lifted the limit on the number of refugees admitted to the U. S.   This change will result in almost twice as many refugees flooding into our country each day. It is not clear at this time if President Trump is aware of or has approved this change of policy, though it seems highly unlikely he would be unaware of such a substantive change.

So this fiasco started last summer when OKC Thunder star Enes Kanter voiced his support for Fetullah Gulen, the preacher that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blames for everything. Kanter's family, who resides in Turkey, publicly disowned him. Then last weekend Romania didn't allow Kanter to enter the country because Turkey canceled his passport. Luckily, the country didn't deport Kanter and he made it safely back to the states. But Turkey will not stop. Now officials have issued an arrest warrant for Kanter for allegedly belonging to the "terrorist group" Gulenist Terror Group (FETO).

Manchester suicide bomber's Salman Abedi's father and brothers have been arrested in Great Britain, all of them suspected of having links to ISIS and Al Qaeda. New details are emerging about recent arrests that indicate Minneapolis police may have averted another family-based terror plot in this country.
There are growing concerns about the arrest of two brothers with ties to the Middle East who authorities say had an arsenal with bomb-making materials, guns and ammunition in their car.

On Friday, we published a Quick Take about a professor at Evergreen State College who was confronted by a student mob demanding his resignation. The professor, who considers himself a progressive, didn't agree with a campus event which would have banned white people from campus for a day. It turns out the situation at this small school in Washington state is worse than previously known. According to Professor Bret Weinstein, campus operations have ground to a halt. The students are calling the shots and making demands of the school president who is trying to appease them. Campus police have been rendered powerless to do anything by an order to stand down. The inmates have truly taken over the asylum.

Hillary Clinton returned to her alma mater to give a commencement address that matched the tone and content of her 2016 campaign speeches: Full of attacks on Donald Trump and interrupted by coughing.
Hillary Clinton didn’t pull any punches Friday when she took several jabs at President Trump – at one point even comparing him to Former President Richard Nixon - as she delivered the commencement address at her alma mater, Wellesley College.

Before I begin the review of Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama by David J. Garrow, I feel the need to make a confession in the interest of full disclosure. Barack Obama has been very inspirational to me personally. He inspired me to help co-found the SoCal Tax Revolt Coalition. He inspired be to become an independent conservative blogger. He inspired me to re-register as "No Party Preference" in my home state of California. So, why did I order this 7-pound book on Obama?

A ruling released by a federal court Friday overturned the two life sentences of DC Sniper Lee Boyd Malvo. Malvo was one of two shooters who killed ten people and injured three others in October of 2002. The sniper-style attacks had the entire District of Columbia on edge for three weeks until the shooters were apprehended. "Malvo's case has been remanded back to Spotsylvania County Circuit Court to issue a new sentence," reports Fox News' DC affiliate. Malvo appealed his life sentences on the premise that he was seventeen-years-old at the time of the murders, making him a minor exempt from a life sentence (based on Miller v. Alabama). The other shooter, John Allen Muhammad, was executed for his crimes in 2009.

I have been following the aftermath of the California legislature's massive gas tax hike, which is slated to be implemented in January. The Democratic Party supermajority swore up-and-down that the new funds would totally go to road repair and the essential infrastructure maintenance that this state desperately needs. The skeptical among us, recognizing that the state is facing an epic pension fund shortfall, suspected that the politicians were offering #AlternativeFacts.
