A year and a half ago, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was arrested and charged with three counts of felony securities fraud violations, namely that he duped investors prior to being elected AG. In 2015 we blogged:
Earlier, a grand jury handed down an indictment addressing Paxton’s July 2011 efforts to sell stocks on behalf of a McKinney, Texas-based corporation while he was still a member of the Texas House of Representatives.

The witch hunt against President Donald Trump and his administration continues in the mainstream media. Last night, The Washington Post reported that Attorney General Jeff Sessions spoke to the Russian ambassador twice during the campaign, which he did not mention during his confirmation hearing. Thing is, the article disproves the newspaper's thesis. Sen. Patrick Leahy (VT) asked Sessions if he had been in contact with any Russian government officials about the 2016 election. Sessions said no.

I keep thinking one of these days, politicians will remember the internet exists, and along with it, evidence of almost about everything they've said or done while in office (and often outside of the office, too -- just ask David Wu). Alas... As the Trump cabinet targeting continues, Sen. Claire McCaskill stepped in a huge pile by claiming she never had a meeting or call with a Russian ambassador. Recently confirmed Attorney General and former Senator Jeff Sessions became the target of what appear to be trumped-up charges that he lied about his involvement with Russia during confirmation hearings. The political media set, along with federally elected Democrats are having a heyday, demanding Sessions resign.

With less than 2 weeks until Dutch election, the government has assigned special forces of the Dutch military to protect the frontrunner Geert Wilders, European newspapers report. Europe’s most prominent critic of Islam and leader of the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV), Wilder had suspended his public campaign last week after a police officer serving in his security detail was arrested for leaking details about his movements to Moroccan-Muslim criminal organisation.

Overnight a mass media hysteria developed over Jeff Session's answer to questions regarding contacts with Russians. As detailed in this NBC News report and elsewhere, Sessions was responding to questions regarding contacts in his role as a Trump surrogate:
Attorney General Jeff Sessions denied meeting with Russian officials during the course of the presidential election to discuss the Trump campaign, he told NBC News in exclusive remarks early Thursday. "I have not met with any Russians at any time to discuss any political campaign," he said, "and those remarks are unbelievable to me and are false. And I don't have anything else to say about that." ...

Daniela Vargas is a DREAMer in the United States under DACA. She recently participated in a press conference about the deportation of illegal immigrants. Moments after the event was over, she was in ICE custody. Sarah Fowler of The Clarion-Ledger reported:
Immigrant detained after press conference Moments after an immigrant spoke out about her fears of deportation, she was detained by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Daniela Vargas, 22, was detained by ICE agents Wednesday morning, shortly after speaking at a news conference in downtown Jackson, according to her attorney, Abby Peterson.

I was a guest on NRA TV, with Bill Whittle sitting in for Colion Noir. I'm a big fan of Bill's, and we often post his videos, so it was great to finally speak with him. The appearance arose after NRA noticed my post, NRA VIDEO hits back at NY Times’ pretentious Oscars “Truth” Ad. The TV conversation covered that NRA response and the original NY Times video. We also spoke about the role of legacy media and the challenges it faces.

CNN is upset Trump misled them about his plans to support a pathway to legalisation for DREAMers. Before his Joint Address Tuesday night, Trump met with reporters and talked about the need for "compromise" in the coming immigration legislation. CNN reported Tuesday:
President Donald Trump wants to pass an immigration reform bill that could grant legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants living in the US.
