Romney played class warfare “poorly”

Posted by  ▪  February 1, 2012
Mitt Romney had an interview this morning in which he said the following: Romney says, “I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs a repair , I’ll fix it. I’m not concerned about the very rich…. I’m concerned about the very heart of America,…

Mitt’s positive campaign continues

in Nevada with this mailer: Similar mailers have been running for days. I suppose Mitt will tell us that he only is going negative because Newt outspent him in Florida. Who is it that can’t be trusted?

“Romneycare is okay because Romney has the best chance of winning in November”

Posted by  ▪  February 1, 2012
That statement, by a Romney supporter on the Mark Levin show, pretty much sums up the problem with the primary season, and the willing disbelief about the problem we face with Romney as the nominee. Here’s the full segment, if you want to jump in for the quote, click here: (added) If you…

Apathy will be the legacy of Romney’s carpet bombing

Posted by  ▪  February 1, 2012
Mitt Romney had a strong win last night in Florida.  There’s no way to spin it otherwise, just as there was no way to spin Newt’s South Carolina win otherwise. But at what cost? Financially the cost was about $17 million for Romney and his SuperPAC, almost entirely on negative ads.  Of the…

Well aren’t you special

What, our tax dollars aren’t good enough for you?  How ’bout we make you buy one of our Chevy Volts (as soon as we figure out how to stop them from catching fire)? Thanks to Linda, this was taken in the parking lot of the Bass Pro Shop in Nashville, TN:

Allen West switching districts

Posted by  ▪  January 31, 2012
Via Dan Riehl at Big Government, Allen West is escaping the bad redistricting and will be running in another district, in a game of musical chairs with a couple of others: In a deal with several moving parts, Conservative favorite Rep. Allen West will move over and run in Rep. Tom Rooney’s…

Florida primary results

Posted by  ▪  January 31, 2012
Looks like turnout down 200k from 2008.  Notice that when Romney ties/wins (IA, NH, FL) no turnout surge, when Newt won in SC huge turnout surge.  Turnout will be important in November 2012, and while Romney is winning, he’s not motivating new voters to come out.  Bad sign so far. 95% reporting…

Really, just really

Posted by  ▪  January 31, 2012
Really, just really (emphasis mine): Mitt Romney says he was “outgunned” in South Carolina, blaming attacks from Newt Gingrich for his defeat there earlier this month. “I needed to make sure that instead of being outgunned in terms of attacks, that I responded aggressively — and hopefully that will have served me well here,”…

Learn to love Romneycare

Posted by  ▪  January 31, 2012
Of course, it takes a publication like Mother Jones to pull this stuff up, but it hasn’t received a lot of attention since it was published in October. There’s a curious reference to Teddy having to work in Washington in order for Massachusetts to pass Romneycare. It hasn’t come up much, but here is an apparent financial explanation from…

Diagnosis, please

Posted by  ▪  January 31, 2012
Tweet from DrewMTips, a Newt supporter, who contributes to AceOfSpadesHQ and his own blog: Here was my response: Correct diagnosis? Update 4:10 p.m.:  I think this may be more of a concern than Romney hatred, people who became active in politics since the election of Obama who look at Romney and how big money and establishment support…

Pre-Florida end of world stuff

Posted by  ▪  January 31, 2012
The world will end tonight, but just before that, consider: Both Romney and Newt are getting trounced by Obama in the latest Rasmussen survey. Romney has an electability problem.  Why do you hate capitalism? You mean there’s actually good news for Newt even if he loses Florida? Final PPP poll finds Romney up high single digits and…

Romney poisoned the well

Posted by  ▪  January 31, 2012
There is a trend developing to assign equal blame to the poisoned atmosphere in the Republican campaign, as if there were no cause just effect. I’m not going to allow history to be rewritten the way the Romney campaign and its supporters tried to rewrite the history of the Reagan revolution and the…

It’s not about Newt

Posted by  ▪  January 31, 2012
Michael Reagan, in this interview with Mark Levin, shoots down the smears spread by the Romney campaign and its supporters regarding Newt and Ronald Reagan. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Lord has another great piece, Newt Battles Mush From the Wimps (h/t jiminsocal in the Tip Line): The war between conservatives and the Republican Establishment — and make…
