Belfast Beheading Attempt Reignites Immigration Debate and Sparks Protests
The unrest that has now engulfed Belfast is the predictable consequence of cascading institutional failures.
My Legal Insurrection colleague Elizabeth Stauffer reported that a Sudanese migrant was arrested in Belfast, Northern Ireland after allegedly attempting to behead a local man during a brutal knife attack.
She indicated that the video footage circulating online appears to show the suspect pinning the victim to the ground and repeatedly stabbing him in the head and neck as horrified bystanders pleaded for him to stop.
Now anti-immigration protests have followed, as some residents express anger and frustration over attacks they perceive as targeting locals, drawing parallels to the reaction after the widely shared Henry Nowak video, which similarly sparked demonstrations and debate in the British Isles.
Calls for demonstrations across Northern Ireland on Tuesday evening quickly gained steam online. Numerous social media accounts urged people to come out and “protest against mass immigration into their communities.”
Hundreds of protesters, many masked, began gathering at various locations in Belfast Tuesday night. Some torched a bus and other vehicles, and blocked roads. Smoke rose from different parts of the city, which was being overflown by police helicopters, according to AFP journalists. Northern Irish police and British authorities had earlier issued repeated calls for calm.
The stabbing came a year after racially motivated riots rocked Northern Ireland following a sexual assault, and a week after far-right-led protests over the way police responded to a young white student who had been fatally stabbed by a British Sikh man in southern England.

Masked groups riot in the streets

The British press is in full “woke” mode, simply describing the attack as a stabbing … rather than the attempted beheading that it was. This chestnut comes from the Irish News.
Protests and disorder spread across Belfast on Tuesday night.
A number of families were evacuated from their homes in the east of the city after nearby vehicles were set on fire.
Residents were forced out of their homes on Lendrick Street as police dealt with significant disorder across the city.
It followed a stabbing incident in north Belfast on Monday night, where a man in his 40s suffered serious injuries to his face, neck and back.
When Henry Nowak was murdered, the media’s preferred strategy was to pretend it hadn’t really happened. So the fact that they’re now willing to acknowledge an attempted beheading, even if they insist on calling it a stabbing, represents a certain kind of progress. https://t.co/ZJPOnctZC2

Flash protests are being reported elsewhere, including London.
The BBC reported that a crowd of 100 men kicked in doors and broke windows of homes on a street in east Belfast. Sky News showed footage of a house on fire.
A few dozen protesters blocked Parliament Square in London.
“I understand that last night’s attempted murder will leave people feeling a range of emotions, from fear to anger,” Northern Ireland’s Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson, who has declared it a “critical incident”, told a press conference.

This attack has placed even more attention on the problems associated with mass immigration in the U.K. and sparked immediate questions about the suspect’s immigration status.
Northern Ireland’s chief constable Jon Boutcher told reporters that the suspect was living in the U.K. under a five-year visa granted in September 2023. Boutcher said he was believed to have traveled from Sudan to Paris and Dublin before claiming asylum in Belfast.
The suspect was not known to Northern Irish police, he added.
When pressed on the question in Parliament, Northern Ireland Secretary Hilary Benn said he could not confirm whether the alleged attacker came to the U.K. illegally.
The unrest that has now engulfed Belfast is the predictable consequence of cascading institutional failures.
These institutional failures include the press deliberately obscuring the severity of the attack, minimizing what both witnesses described and what people saw on video.
When critical institutions, such as the press and government, are seen as minimizing inconvenient realities and continually assert that the groups being victimized must remain “calm”, public trust collapses and the streets fill with people who are challenging political and media priorities.

They carelessly threw open the gates. They called vetting migrants for prosocial and indeed pro-European ideology a racist practice. Now they want to tell you that you shouldn’t be alarmed when one of their esteemed guests tries to decapitate a man in the street. Because the food from Sudan is delicious or something.
Liberalism is dead. They took the glorious concept of freedom and soiled it in blood. We cannot talk about the merits of individualism while we are collectively stuffed down to the bottom of the garbage.
We did the same thing
Who is this “we” you speak of G? 🤔
By and large it seems to have been ’60s hippies who carried their leftism/Marxist ideology into their professional careers in Academia, Law, Media, Corporate Execs and Political realms inserting woke weird policies that became more and more anti Western Civilization with each passing decade. Many of them will seek to avoid accountability for this by arguing that they were ‘deceived’, that their intentions were good, that they were trying to ‘do good’, that they changed their minds at some point.
The civilized west exists now only in film and literature that is over 6 decades old. Even the currently middle aged are propagandized, screen zombies. I am a walking ghost from the past, treading my way through a future too awful to have been imagined.
Well said.
I’m glad I’m old.
Me too.
For myself, I am too. For my high achieving children and my grandchildren I am not.
Subotai Bahadur
I’m glad that I grew up when I did.
I’d hate to be young right now, with what’s happened to this country.
The world used to be a much better place.
Two tiered justice is not Institutional failure- it’s deliberate.
Cooler heads have walked away from violence for too long. The governments over there have banked on and abused pacifism and desire for rational minds to prevail.
It’s terrible place for a society to be, but it really is time to start entering the violent response era to the 3rd world crime, violence and two tiered justice.
the politicians are the cause so until they get it
they wont get it
Mobs of any stripe can’t be tolerated in a civilized society. The trouble is the UK leadership class Tories and Labour alike have for decades abdicated their responsibility to maintain a civilized society. They didn’t listen to the voters. Instead they ignored the valid concerns about mass migration, rapes/sexual assault, turned a blind eye/suppressed/downplayed ‘grooming gangs’, property crimes, assaults and murders being committed by a migrant underclass then declared noticing/speaking up about basic facts to be verboten with Orwellian speech crime laws. The media went along with pushing multicultural nonsense. Broad swathes of the UK public now have zero trust in/respect for their leadership class b/c the leadership class seemed determined to actively erode the last vestiges of their authority in pandering to migrants and their leftist surrogates. The leadership refused to act in good faith, squandering any basis of support much less any moral authority. All the leadership class has left is force (aka might makes right) and as these events make clear the leadership class doesn’t hold a monopoly on force.
LOL – The Community Note must have been added to the BBC post after I posted.
This is a big step in the right direction… now focus your rage on the third world invaders and make them GTFO of your country. Then on the politicians who aided and abetted the invasion in the first place. There is a good reason that ‘tar & feathers’ used to be popular.
Not in that order. If you don’t want to be arrested in the process, the politicians are providing air cover for the invaders and criminalizing response.
Technology has advanced to providing superglue and packing peanuts.
(To those who complain, “but tar was hot!,” have you ever dipped a body part in superglue?)
Somehow worse than a beheading attempt — he gouged the victim’s eyes out, then attempted to skin his face.
In a serial killer movie, the profiler would be talking about “dehumanizing” and “rage”.
“Calm” Hell. That is what got Britain in this mess in the first place. These ‘mostly peaceful demonstrations’ need to spread and find the media outlets and other well known targets.
I think the IRA and RUC may be making an appearance soon.
Sinn Fein is WEF-Marxist adjacent and Its IRA (what is left of it) back mass illegal immigration. They were never for Ireland in the sense we wish them to be.
Maybe so, but when their people jet raped or killed the Armalite’s will come out.
The riots may cause migrants to seek other place to live than Northern Ireland.
A better solution is to give some of the pro mass migration politicians a ride out of the country on a splintered rail. That might be incentive for the rest of the corrupt globalists to at least pretend they give a crap about their citizens and the country.
France, Denmark, Sweden etc., have the problem even worse. We bailed them out of two world wars, saved them from Adolph Hitler. But there is no power on Earth that can fix what they have done this time. We may not even be able to fix *our* problem with the invaders and their treasonous enablers…
Why burn down the migrants housing? Burn down the authority’s housing. Take the weight of complaint directly to those who made this happen. American colonialists burned down the house of the King’s man in Boston.
Do both.
In fact, I just saw an article talking about how the protesters were planning on going after the “enablers” of the invasion.
