Lou Reed passed away in 2013. At least he's not here to witness one of his best songs become the newest thing campus snowflakes have deemed problematic. Students at the University of Guelph in Canada played "Walk on the Wild Side" at a campus event and were ultimately forced to apologize. Dave Huber reports at The College Fix:
Student group issues apology after playing Lou Reed’s ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ This is where we are: A student group at the University of Guelph in Canada has apologized for including the Lou Reed song “Walk on the Wild Side” on a playlist at a campus event. Because, don’t you know, the tune contains “transphobic lyrics.”

The Supreme Court has chosen to send a Virginia transgender student's bathroom case back to the lower court after President Donald Trump's administration decided to do away with a directive from former President Barack Obama that stated students in schools can use which bathroom they want. The court should have heard the case later this month. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit had decided to allow transgender teen Gavin Grimm to use the bathroom of her choice.

Mack Beggs, a 17-year-old junior, began the transition from girl to boy two years ago; the transition includes supplements and shots of testosterone that some feel gave Beggs an advantage.  Beggs competed for and won a Texas state girls' wrestling title. The Washington Post reports:

Booed and bloody, Mack Beggs dropped to his knees to celebrate. He was, after four wins and two days and all the rest, a state champion.

Wednesday, President Trump withdrew President Obama's transgender bathroom mandates. Though the Obama administration claimed the mandates were simply guidance, failure to comply could've resulted in the loss of federal funding. Needless to say, the LGBTQ community was up in arms, leading long-time Democratic advisor Zac Petkansas to call the Trump White House "monsters."

Ben Shapiro recently visited the campus of Ferris State University in Michigan and had a fascinating exchange with a student about transgenderism. Shapiro's position is that calling yourself another gender doesn't make it true. He also posits that his main problem with this issue is proponents trying to force him to deny reality and play along. Christian Datoc of The Daily Caller has the story:

Obama's transgender bathroom mandate has created strange bedfellows. Some feminists have apparently figured out that if men can simply claim to be women, it takes power away from women. Imagine that. Kara Dansky of the Women's Liberation Front or (WoLF), appeared on Tucker Carlson's show Tuesday night to address the issue. Here's an overview of the segment from the FOX News Insider:
Christians & Feminists Team Up to Fight Transgender Bathroom Mandate The Obama administration told public schools last year they had to allow anyone who identified as transgender to use the bathroom of their choice. If schools refused to enforce the rule, they would be denied federal funding.

Kimberly Peirce, who made the 1999 film "Boys Don't Cry" about the transgender man Brandon Teena was recently invited to screen the film and give a talk at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Things went downhill quickly as students arrived and shouted obscenities at Peirce, preventing her ability to speak. The students were angry that Peirce had cast Hillary Swank, a non-trans actor in the main role and accused Peirce of profiting off of violence against a transgender person. We covered this in a recent Quick Take, based on a report by Robby Soave of Reason:
Leftist Students Shouted ‘F*ck You B*itch’ at the Gay Director of a Pro-Trans Movie, Boys Don’t Cry There was a time not so long ago when the people shouting “fuck you bitch” at a gender-fluid gay filmmaker would have been bigoted right-wing conservatives. But because we currently live in the year 2016, the people who heckled Kimberly Peirce—director of Boys Don’t Cry, a groundbreaking film about a transgender man—during her recent appearance at Reed College were far-left students.
