As of today, there are approximately 14,000 cases of Wuhan Coronavirus infections worldwide. The death toll stands at 304, with 27 nations or administrative areas reporting patients who are infected with the pathogen.

As of today, there are now over 8200 cases of those with the Wuhan Coronavirus officially reported worldwide, and 170 deaths attributed to the pathogen. Finland is now reporting its first case, which brings the total of nations that have Wuhan Coronavirus cases to 18.

I had an opportunity to have lunch with the biosafety specialist and colleague this week, to do a preliminary risk assessment related to the Wuhan Coronavirus and its potential for the outbreak in China to blossom into a full-blown pandemic. One of the biggest challenges in this exercise is the reliability of any of the data coming from China. Presently, we will assume that the death toll stands now at 169, with 7169 cases officially reported (including the five in the US).

Los Angeles County Reports First Case of Wuhan Coronavirus

The number of deaths and infections associated with the Wuhan Coronavirus has risen as the Los Angeles County reports its first case of the disease.

The patient had recently traveled from Wuhan City, China— the epicenter of the outbreak that has killed 56 people and sickened another 2,000.
