I am an Environmental Health and Safety Professional, as well as a science/technical writer for a variety of news and professional publications. I have been a citizen activist since 2009, and am one of the co-founders of the San Diego-based group, Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition.

The last time we checked on North Korea, all the participating parties in the Hanoi Summit were regrouping after the sudden collapse of the high-level meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korea's Chairman Kim Jong Un. Now it is being reported that after a North Korean opposition group stormed the North Korean embassy in Spain last month, it handed over data stolen from the raid to the FBI.

A new NASA study shows that a major Greenland glacier once touted as one of the fastest shrinking ice and snow masses on Earth is growing again.
The Jakobshavn glacier around 2012 was retreating about 1.8 miles and thinning nearly 130 feet annually. But it started growing again at about the same rate in the past two years, according to a study in Monday’s Nature Geoscience. Study authors and outside scientists think this is temporary.

Once upon a time, stories of polar bears starving to death were regular features of environmental and science "reporting." The fuzzy fur-balls of ferocity were the beloved icons for the crusade against global warming. However, they have been seemingly absent from recent "climate change" discussions.  Could this be due to rapidly increasing number of polar bears, a fact which counters all the doom-and-gloom assertions made by supposed experts?

Earlier this month, I noted that Victor Davis Hanson, fellow Californian and a military historian at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, had been targeted in social media by writers associated with The Bulwark. His crime? Apparently, it was that Hanson had the temerity to write what he considered to be an even-handed review of President Donald Trump's first two years in office entitled The Case for Trump.  The attack inspired me to purchase the book, and share my thoughts on it with Legal Insurrection.

Communities across the nation have promoted the virtues of recycling, and millions of Americans have dutifully segregated their wastes to "save the planet." However, now many of those programs have started to end because of escalating costs.
Philadelphia is now burning about half of its 1.5 million residents’ recycling material in an incinerator that converts waste to energy. In Memphis, the international airport still has recycling bins around the terminals, but every collected can, bottle and newspaper is sent to a landfill. And last month, officials in the central Florida city of Deltona faced the reality that, despite their best efforts to recycle, their curbside program was not working and suspended it.

George Pell, an Australian cardinal who was once the third-highest ranking Vatican official, was sentenced to six years in prison for molesting 2 choirboys in 1996.
The cardinal was convicted on five counts in December, making him the most senior Catholic official — and the first bishop — to be found guilty in a criminal court for sexually abusing minors, according to BishopAccountability.org, which tracks cases of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy.
