Governor Greg Abbott announced that in 2021, the state seized 964 lbs of fentanyl, which is a more than 1,000% increase from 2020. In a press conference on the fentanyl crisis held at a DPS crime lab in Houston, Abbott listed alarming stats that should have us all very worried.  In 2019 there were 277 fentanyl deaths. However, in 2021 there were almost 1700 deaths. Abbott said, “It’s because of Washington’s open border policies that deadly fentanyl is flooding (into) into the United States,” 

West Virginia Congresswoman Carol Miller introduced a resolution (H. RES. 1216) recognizing June as the “Month of Life,” and 46 other House Republicans have co-signed the resolution.  “Month of Life” would celebrate the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade to remove federal protections for abortion and send the decision back to the individual states. 

The New York Times reported the state legislature created a COVID relief fund to give unemployed illegal immigrants a one-time payment of up to $15,600 each if they can prove that they lived in New York and were out of work due to the pandemic. The "excluded workers fund" contains $2.1 billion for the effort and was included as part of passing New York's $212 billion budget in an agreement reached on Tuesday.

As a federal judge, Hastings was tried and acquitted on charges of conspiracy to solicit a bribe in 1982, but in 1988 he was impeached by the then Democratic lead House on charges of bribery and perjury. The Democratic Senate convicted Hastings in 1989....

San Diego County has answered a call by HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra to house unaccompanied minors who cross the U.S. border illegally. Under the federally funded HHS Refugee Resettlement Program, children who cross the border without parents will be offered food, shelter, and healthcare until they can be processed. In San Diego, 70 of the 700 girls currently being housed at the San Diego Convention Center have tested positive for COVID-19.

Following reports that there are more than 13,000 unaccompanied minors in U.S. custody and that steady streams of people illegally crossing the border continue to add to an already massive processing backlog for ICE, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has asked for air support to move people to states along the Canadian border, according to the Washington Post.
