Van Hollen Doubles Down, But Slightly Distances Himself From Abrego Garcia

Van Hollen Doubles Down, But Slightly Distances Himself From Abrego Garcia

Notice his first sentence. He doesn’t mention Abrego Garcia: “Oh, I have no regret, Ana, about defending the Constitution of the United States.”

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) once salivated over suspected MS-13 gang banger and wife-beater Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

I’m not surprised the senator is pleased that President Donald Trump’s administration has returned Abrego Garcia.

Abrego Garcia came back from El Salvador after a Tennessee federal grand jury indicted him on human trafficking charges under 8 U.S. Code § 1324.

However, read closely what Van Hollen told MSNBC’s Ana Cabrera:

CABRERA: “Senator, what’s your response to those names that they called you and do you have any regrets at all about meeting with Abrago Garcia?”

VAN HOLLEN: “Oh, I have no regret, Ana, about defending the Constitution of the United States. And those statements come from individuals who have no respect for due process or the Constitution of the United States. The president and his cronies have shown time and again that they’re willing to ignore and sacrifice people’s constitutional rights to impose their political views on the country. They’re doing this across the board. They’re abusing their power by bringing these lawsuits against universities and colleges, cracking down on First Amendment rights. So what we have is a lawless president and a lawless administration. And now, finally, we have Abrago Garcia able to be in a court of law, which is all that I have asked for from the beginning, and we have an administration — and you just heard from them — they said they weren’t going to bring him back to allow him to have due process. They’ve had to do that in response to the court’s decision and 9-0 Supreme Court decision, we don’t see those very often. So, I am always glad to stand up for people’s constitutional rights. And that’s what we’re doing in this case.”

I queued the video to start at the dialogue I quoted:

Oh, now it’s about the Constitution? Was it ever about Van Hollen’s beloved “Maryland Man?”

It seems Van Hollen has been distancing himself from Abrego Garcia lately: “This has never been about the man-it’s about his constitutional rights & the rights of all.”

Then why did Van Hollen travel to El Salvador to meet with Abrego Garcia? Why not other people deported to El Salvador?

Sure, Abrego Garcia resided in Maryland. But Van Hollen’s statement mentions “the rights of all.”

After Van Hollen sipped margaritas with Abrego Garcia, the narrative around the illegal alien crumbled:

No wonder Van Hollen wants to make it about the Constitution. I wouldn’t want to be associated with Abrego Garcia.

Too late, Senator. No one can forget those pictures of you with Abrego Garcia.

Garcia had due process, he was ordered deported by an Immigration judge which was upheld by an appeals court.

They seem to forget that Garcia HAD ALL OF HIS DUE PROCESS. That’s what a final removal order means, especially one that has survived an appeal attempt like his did.

The executive branch appealing a decision by a court when the reason the executive lost was telling the judge “trust me bro” when even the most basic rules of evidence says “prove it now that you made the claim and winning?

Great

Losing a court case in 2019 and acting the way you wish without appealing a court order?

NO!!!!!

I am sorry but Van Hollen demonstrates a broken clock is right twice a day.

You would not like Joe Biden ignoring a court order not to arrest a Jan 6th suspect stop supporting bad behavior if it comes from our side.

I am glad Trump indicted Abrego Garcia, if there is a criminal case against him it should be handled in a court of law and a court of law not public opinion should handle it.

The actions prior are at best a mistake. You do not ignore a court order.

Van Hollen has his finger in another man’s belt loop. I wonder how many other men have had such an emotionally satisfying connection as Van Hollen and his Man-Daddy.

Ah well, that’s ordinary stuff for Maryland, they really represent their constituents–when it is convenient. And loving.

Democrats only support the interests of criminal illegal aliens.
