The House passed the FIRST Step Act 360-59 on Tuesday that brings reforms to the federal prison system, but the Senate may not ever see it as both sides of the aisle have problems with it.

President Donald Trump promised big changes to Dodd-Frank shortly after his inauguration. He may have the opportunity to do just that this week.

In a rare instance of bipartisanship, the House passed a bill that will rollback portions of the financial law for smaller banks.

It looks like the GOP escaped another potential Roy Moore fiasco in West Virginia after the convict and former coal CEO Don Blankeship lost the GOP Senate primary.

With Blankenship’s loss and wins in other states, the GOP may be poised to gain a few seats in the Senate.

Congress released its 2,232 page, $1.3 trillion omnibus bill late Wednesday night, which is only about 48 hours before the deadline for passage.

That’s right. Lawmakers have basically 24 hours to read through the bill and pass it by Friday to avoid a government shutdown.

Yes, the government is facing another shutdown if Congress does not pass a spending bill to fund the government through the end of September by midnight on Friday.

It may not be that easy since some Republicans have scoffed at the $1.2 trillion price tag.
