Spoiler alert: if you have yet to see the film, be aware that plot particulars are discussed in the post beneath. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is a terrible blockbuster film. As a spin-off to the critically successful Harry Potter franchise, it’s a low rent continuation coasting by on a series of half-baked world-building concepts stitched together by the creative team that made the original films work. Yet somehow with J.K. Rowling in the driver’s seat, the franchise hasn’t found any original territory to build upon.

During the funeral for George H.W. Bush, Trump was spotted not reciting the Apostle's Creed and leftists on Twitter used it as an opportunity to bash him. Professor Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit appeared on the Martha MacCallum show Thursday night to talk about this and used it as an example of why he left Twitter.

Economists expected 198,000 in November, but the economy only added 155,000. While expectations fell short, there's some positivity within the report and stocks traded higher on Friday morning. Experts told The Wall Street Journal that fears of a recession may have been overblown:
Friday's jobs report shows that the market's volatility and lingering uncertainty over the U.S. and China's trade relationship hasn't stopped businesses from hiring workers, said Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist and managing director at MUFG, in an email.

President Donald Trump will nominate State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert to take over as UN Ambassador to replace Nikki Haley. From The Washington Examiner:
“Heather Nauert will be nominated [for U.S. ambassador]. She's done work with Nikki Haley to replace Nikki at the United Nations. She will be ambassador to the United Nations,” Trump told reporters on the White House lawn before departing for a trip to Kansas City, Mo.

Elizabeth Warren's failed strategy to take a DNA test to quiet coverage of her false claim to be Native American for employment purposes as a law professor, continues to reverberate. Yesterday we posted about a NY Times article in which even Warren loyalists complained that Warren had severely damaged her presidential ambitions, Former Elizabeth Warren adviser: DNA test a “strategic failure” that was “depressing and unforgettable”.

The European Union is in the midst of a political turmoil over the ratification of the United Nations pact on migration. The resistance to the pact is galvanizing in Europe ahead of the December 10 deadline when the representatives from some 180 UN member states will meet in Morocco, a Muslim-majority country in North Africa, to formally adopt the "Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration," as the pact is officially called.

Belgium became the latest EU country to get sucked into the crisis, with its ruling coalition teetering on the brink of collapse over the migration dispute. The country's right-wing New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) broke away from the ruling alliance amid sharp disagreements over the UN pact. The N-VA regards the agreement as an infringement of Belgian sovereignty. "In our democracy, we decide. The sovereignty is with the people," the party said.

Stephen Gutowski at The Washington Free Beacon reported that since siding with those who support gun control, business has gone down at Dick's Sporting Goods and the company may have to close Field & Stream:
Edward Stack, chairman and CEO of Dick's, said during the event that the sporting goods chain's recent 3.9 percent drop in same-store sales was the result of a mix of factors beyond their control as well as some he called "self-imposed." Specifically, he said, "the decisions we made on firearms" negatively affected their bottom line but the drop in sales was something they expected. They did not, however, regret their decision to change a number of their gun-sales policies and back new gun-control legislation.
