Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives have released an open letter warning the Israeli government against applying sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria region. The letter addressed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior members of his government was endorsed by 191 out of 233 House Democrats. None of the 197 Republicans in the House supported the move.

Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) appeared on a segment of MSNBC's "Hate in America" special on Memorial Day to answer questions from Hardball host Chris Matthews on white supremacy and anti-Semitism in America. During the interview, Lewis told Matthews he believes that the election of President Donald Trump stopped America from heading in the positive direction during past Democratic administrations.

There has been a lot of anger at Rep. Rashida Tlaib's statement about the Holocaust. Unfortunately, much of it has focused on her use of the term "calming feeling," which has enabled defenders to claim the term was taken out of context. But those defenders ignore the rest of the context, which was far worse than the term "calming feeling."

The House Democratic Leadership has finally condemned the latest anti-Semitic language we have seen from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) where she suggested that Republicans only support Israel and condemn anti-Semitism because of money. From Fox News:
“We are and will always be strong supporters of Israel in Congress because we understand that our support is based on shared values and strategic interests. Legitimate criticism of Israel’s policies is protected by the values of free speech and democratic debate that the United States and Israel share. But Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive. We condemn these remarks and we call upon Congresswoman Omar to immediately apologize for these hurtful comments."

The Senate passed a bill that denounces the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) movement 77-23 on Tuesday. The bill "allows state and local governments to boycott companies that boycott the country of Israel." The bill also contains a resolution that opposes President Donald Trump's vow to withdraw American soldiers from Syria and Afghanistan.

The government needs to come up with spending bills by Friday or the government will shut down. Border wall funding has halted the talks as disagreements between the Democrats and President Donald Trump continue. Trump wants $5 billion, but the Democrats will not budge from their demand of only $1.6 billion.

In addition to their multiple calls for greater gun control, Democrats have found another message they believe is a winner for the 2018 midterms. They want to repeal the GOP tax cuts. They can't stand the idea of people being allowed to keep more of their own money.
