Round 2....FIGHT! The Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced the 2020 Democratic candidates who reached the threshold to qualify for the second round of debates. CNN will host the debates on July 30 and 31 in Detroit, MI.

OK, so I hope tonight's debate is not as chaotic and a mess so I can provide better coverage than last night. I wonder if they'll try to out Spanish each other tonight. Anyway, tonight from 9PM ET to 11PM, ten more Democratic presidential candidates will take the stage in Miami.

The Democratic National Committee has finally announced the twenty candidates will participate in the first primary debates at the end of this month. It's amazing that Bill de Blasio and Eric Swalwell made the cut. Real Clear Politics isn't even tracking Swalwell's campaign in its average of polls.

After Russiagate came crashing down, Trump's re-election campaign is targeting six high profile Democrats who, they claim, “made outlandish, false claims, without evidence." Six Democrats were mentioned in a memo sent by the re-election campaign to networks: Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Rep. Jerry Nadler, Rep. Adam Schiff, Rep. Eric Swalwell, DNC Chair Tom Perez,  and John Brennan, former CIA director.

On Friday night Donald Trump tweeted a really funny satirical video created by Twitter user @CarpeDonktum. The video (see below) used the REM song "Everybody Hurts" mixed with Trump's State of the Union speech audio to mock Democrats and Mitt Romney, with video clips of them in the audience at SOTU. The Trump tweet quickly gained almost 50,000 retweets and over 2,000,000 views.

If current Virginia governor Ralph Northam (D) thought his statement on Saturday would ease the pressure on him to resign, he was mistaken. A growing number of Democrats are calling for the embattled governor to resign, and a last-minute Super Bowl Sunday urgent meeting between Northam and "top-level" staff, including Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax, suggests that Northam may be planning to resign.

NPR posted the type of "scoop" story that has become common among journalists trying to out-do each other in going after all things Trump: "Trump Jr.'s 2017 Testimony Conflicts With Cohen's Account Of Russian Talks." The point of the story, however, was premised on a clear misreading of the transcripts because there is no conflict between the testimonies of Donald Trump, Jr. and Michael Cohen.

Humanity 101: Do not threaten people, including those who accuse someone of sexual assault or may not vote the way you want them to. The Hill published an article yesterday about how Sen. Susan Collins and her office have received threats over Supreme court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. "Conservative" blogger Jennifer Rubin and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) decided it's not a big deal and actually went on social media to MOCK Collins and her office.
