This is the latest in a series on the use of the race card for political gain: I was going to take tonight off, since tomorrow is Independence Day. But then I saw this column at Newsweek online, Your Dog Isn’t Racist, on the pressing...

Good news. The NY Times is reporting that the second in command of the Afghan Taliban, Mullah Baradar, has been captured in Pakistan. The capture was undertaken by the Pakistanis with help from the CIA: Details of the raid remain murky, but officials said that...

Writing-on-hand-gate reminds me of one of the reasons Sarah Palin was put on this earth: To bring out and expose the worst misogynistic impulses in the hard core of the Democratic base. I’m not talking about criticism or mockery of the handwritten notes. That’s fair...

Media Matters is watching everything that FoxNews, and conservative commentators such as Rush Limbaugh, say or do waiting to pounce on any sentence, or clause in a sentence, or word in a clause, which can be twisted out of context and blown up into a...

TBogg, who blogs at Firedoglake, doesn’t want to miss an excuse to take a dig at Trig Palin, Sarah Palin’s son who was born with Down Syndrome. The excuse this time is the Newsweek cover showing what even Media Matters calls a sexist portrayal of...

Will Newsweek ever stop trying to get attention by declaring things coming to an end? First it was the end of Christian America. Then the end of the recession. Now the end of monogamy as the basis for socially acceptable relationships, in a lead article...

Liberal bloggers and media groups can’t get the Tea Party phenomenon out of their heads. It wasn’t supposed to be this way, to them. Ordinary people getting together to protest against the liberal establishment. There is a cognitive disconnect. There must be a plot; the...

The dispute regarding the appointment of Harold Koh, Dean of Yale Law School, to the top legal position at the State Department is heating up with the announcement that a coalition of conservative activists is beginning to form around opposition to Harold Koh, President Obama’s...

Posted April 8, 2009 Newsweek magazine’s cover proclaims The Decline and Fall of Christian America, while the article inside the cover proclaims The End of Christian America. The substance of the article doesn’t really prove the headline, but the goal of whichever editor wrote the...
