November 2018

It's hard not to feel that in the run up to every national election the mainstream media and 'progressive' cultural infrastructure gaslight us into believing Democrats are destined to win. Gaslighting is a term I never used to use much before, but it fits;

(1) The whole country is voting on ANGER. That sentiment has been commonplace in American Presidential elections, at least since 2008, but the depth and breadth of that anger are very unusual in midterms. They are even more usual for times marked by unprecedented prosperity, low unemployment, and no major wars. Both parties have stoked the fear and rage, figuring it is better to mobilize their base voters than to rely on centrists. Both are now locked in to this divisive appeal, not just for this election but for 2020. That means the election is less about who you are voting for than who you are voting against.

President Donald Trump's administration has officially restored sanctions on Iran that went away with the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal. At the same time, SWIFT, a financial messaging service based in Belgium, announced it will suspend "some unspecified Iranian banks’ access to its messaging system in the interest of the stability and integrity of the global financial system," but did not mention the US sanctions.

Meet Amelia Hamilton — dearest friend, gifted children’s authoress, and education advocate. Amelia Hamilton is a blogger and author of the Growing Patriots children’s books. A lifelong writer and patriot, she also loves hockey, old cars, old movies and apple juice. Amelia has a master’s degree in both English and 18th-century history from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Sunday, while binge watching Hallmark Christmas movies, I sat down Hamilton to discuss her latest endeavor, The Growing Patriots Podcast.

Democrat Mayor of Tallahassee Andrew Gillum has about an even shot of becoming Governor of Florida, if the polls are accurate. He might even be a slight favorite to defeat Republican Ron DeSantis. There's a lot politically not to like about Gillum -- he's on the far left of the Democratic Party, and that's saying a lot. His proposals could do serious damage to Florida. Yet in this age of Democrat anti-Trump rage, and a soft-spot for socialism in the party, Gillum just might pull it off.

Saturday Night Live used to be funny.  Remember Roseanne Roseannadanna or Chevy Chase being politically incorrect on Weekend Update and the catchphrases that permeated our culture:  "Jane, you ignorant slut," "You look mahvelous," and "could it be . . . Satan?"? SNL is no longer funny.  Case in point, this week they mocked Navy SEAL veteran Dan Crenshaw, a Republican congressional candidate who lost an eye in an IED explosion in Afghanistan.

Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) has been an outspoken critic of President Trump.  She's called for his impeachment and then promised to follow that up by "going after" Vice President Mike Pence; she's called for #TheResistance to find and confront Trump officials wherever they are.  She's infamously let slip that she would like to nationalize the oil industry and has been embroiled in a long list of questionable ethics- and nepotism-related scandals.

What is the status of the Singapore Summit agreement five months after the historic deal was signed by President Donald Trump and North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un? The American press is highlighting a set-back on the path to peace.  North Korean officials are warning that the nation will begin strengthening its nuclear arsenal if the United States does not lift economic sanctions against the country.
