It's clear that Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) wants to be president.  What's not clear is in what country she wants to president. She wants to be president of a country with no borders, with a Supreme Court that bases its decisions on "feelings" rather than law, with few (preferably no?) gun rights for citizens, with "free" college, with government-run (i.e. single payer) healthcare, with severely restricted speech, with unrestricted abortion funded by taxpayers.  To be fair to Harris, this is the same imaginary country in which all Democrat presidential hopefuls aspire to be president. Harris' ongoing, if not yet announced, 2020 presidential campaign is currently focused on flouting foiling our nation's immigration laws.

The American Studies Association (ASA) adopted the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction (BDS) academic boycott of Israel in December 2013. The academic boycott, which is considered a violation of academic freedom by the American Association of University Professors, was condemned by over 250 university presidents and numerous university associations.

The big news from California that Democrats are trying to promote is that there is over $6 billion in an unexpected budget surplus.
"We have to be on our guard. It's not exciting, it's not funding good and nice things, but it's getting ready" for the next recession, [California Governor Jerry] Brown said. But in the five months ahead of a budget revision in May, when the governor's Finance Department will offer updated revenue and spending figures, Democrats in the state legislature are likely to offer their own ideas about how to spend the state's $6.1 billion surplus, beyond the constitutionally mandated $1.5 billion contribution to the rainy day fund.

Reading reports of so many high-profile murders by teenagers, it's not unusual for people to assume that there's been a big increase in killings by young people, both murder and suicide. But statistics tell a much more complex story. To the question of whether there been a rise in teen suicide, the answer is both yes and no (the following quotes are from an article dated November 2017):
An increase in suicide rates among US teens occurred at the same time social media use surged and a new analysis suggests there may be a link.

The field of Democrats running for president in 2020 is going to be huge. Now that the Clintons are out of the way, everyone is going to get into the game and there will be plenty of fresh, young faces. Yet they could end up with an older ticket.

Earlier today Florida Governor Rick Scott signed into law gun control measures meant to address concerns after the Parkland school shooting. One provision provides that all firearm sales are limited to persons at least 21 years old. Previously that age minimum only applied to handguns.

An excerpt from Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin's War on America and the Election of Donald Trump reveals an explosive claim against former National Security Advisor Susan Rice. She supposedly told the White House cyber team, who planned to fight back against Russian meddling when the evidence mounted, to stand down.
