As much as I dislike the United Nations, it's wonderful to hear Ambassador Nikki Haley shove the truth in Russia's face for everyone to hear. Last weekend, a chemical attack in Douma, Syria, killed dozens of people and injured many more. Syria blames Israel while Russia insists that the chemical attack was staged. Haley had no time for that crap and reminded Russia that no one believes them. She also told Russia if it had done its job then Assad wouldn't have these weapons.

Three more California cities have several other Golden State municipalities in the fight against Sacramento's "Sanctuary State" law (SB54). The City of Orange voted to not enforce the rules, and Newport Beach is joining the federal lawsuit against the state, as SB54 limits the ability of local law enforcement professionals from cooperating with federal immigration agents in the process of deporting criminal aliens.
In Newport Beach, the City Council voted unanimously during closed session to support a federal lawsuit filed by the Trump administration against California. The Newport Beach council also voted 7-0 for a resolution that says the city is publicly opposed to the law.

The DOJ Inspector General dropped its report (pdf.)(full embed at bottom of post) on former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and it's a doozy. It turns out that McCabe authorized a leak to the Wall Street Journal in an attempt to boost himself, but lied to investigators and former FBI Director James Comey. Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe in March due to recommendations from a department senior official and early reports on McCabe's behavior.

Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen has filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York for a Temporary Restraining Order regarding the records and evidence seized by the government when it executed a search warrant on Cohen's offices and homes on April 9, 2018. According to news reports, a hearing started this morning and is ongoing this afternoon before Judge Kimba Wood.

The debate over surging Islamization in Germany has created a serious rift within Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian-Conservative alliance. Merkel's Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union (CSU), launched scathing attack on the growing influence of Islam in German society Islam "doesn't culturally shape our country" and "it should not" be culturally influential in Germany, Alexander Dobrindt, the head of the CSU parliamentary party, said in a newspaper interview. In a rare display of backbone by a leading German politician, Dobrindt asserted the superiority of West's "Judeo-Christian heritage," saying "[N]o Islamic country on earth has developed a comparable democratic culture like the ones we know in Christian countries."

President Donald Trump has pardoned former Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff Scooter Libby, who received a conviction of lying to the FBI and obstruction of justice in 2007.

I have been highly critical of Loretta Lynch. I didn't support her nomination to be Attorney General. I've argued that the tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton smelled like a signal to the Clintons not to worry about the DOJ/FBI investigation of Hillary's server. Yet now I come to her defense because of James Comey's attack on her.

Disruptions of conservative speakers, even at law schools, has become a common tactic. We've documented dozens of such incidents. The tactic, even when it doesn't prevent the speech completely, is not merely the expression of disagreement. It's an infringement of the speaker's right to speak, and the audience's right to hear that speech.

The Republican National Committee published a website that will fact check a book by former FBI James Comey. From Fox News:
The RNC’s new website is www.LyinComey.com, where the GOP plans to fact check Comey’s book and use “rapid response” to highlight any “misstatements” or “contradictions” in it, according to an RNC official.
