Thankfully, no corn dogs were served

Check out the Cornell Chronicle article about my Tea Party talk, Law professor’s talk on the Tea Party triggers heated debate. Could they possibly have picked a worse photo?  Thankfully, they didn’t serve corn dogs at the event. Posted by  ▪  September 22, 2011
While media eyes were focused on the disputed Troy Davis execution in Georgia, Texas was executing a brutal and completely unrepentant murderer. Last night, Texas executed white supremacist Lawrence Russell Brewer for the murder of James Byrd Jr.  One accomplice, John William King, remains on death row, and another, Shawn Allen Berry,…

Conservatives coalescing around … Mitt?

Posted by  ▪  September 22, 2011
Via HotAir, Mitt Romney has scored two significant conservative endorsements recently, Jeff Flake and Darrel Issa.  While that may not constitute a coalescing around Romney, it does help insulate him from RINO charges.  Whatever he once was, is he now the conservative who can win? What’s up with this? I think it may be dissatisfaction,…

Palestinians Show Their True Goal With UN Logo That Wipes Israel Off The Map

Posted by  ▪  September 22, 2011
The Weekly Standard reports:   Note the logo, which depicts “Palestine” as all of Israel. The root of the conflict is not that Israel currently controls the West Bank.  The root of the conflict is that the Palestinians and their allies are still unwilling to accept that Israel exists at all.  There can be…

Road Trip, Part 1

Posted by  ▪  September 22, 2011
Name withheld for a reason which will become obvious. From reader “Joe”: I just returned from a road trip from SD to VA for my mother’s funeral. As I drove down the WV Turnpike I snapped this pic of a billboard. I’d seen it before on a previous trip so I had my SLR…

Tea Party Kippot!

Posted by  ▪  September 21, 2011
Found the following at a local judaica shop called “The Mitzvah Store”:     This was the same shop I bought this at in ’08 (I kinda wore it out): It did not appear that they were selling Obama kippot at that time.  Maybe that’s not a mitzvah.

The Palestinian bubble bursts again

Posted by  ▪  September 21, 2011
Why the Palestinians thought that a diplomatic confrontation with the U.S. was the way to go is inexplicable.  Once again, they overplayed their hand. Did they really buy into Obama’s rhetoric from 2009 in Cairo, or earlier this year about the Arab Spring?  In part, a big maybe, but I don’t think…

Dissuasion

Posted by  ▪  September 21, 2011
Obama gave a good speech today at the U.N. on the Israel-Palestinian conflict: President Barack Obama told a meeting  of the United Nations General Assembly Wednesday that Mideast peace “will  not come through statements and resolutions” by the world body, arguing against  a proposed resolution calling for U.N. recognition of P…

Libertarianism: Lost in Translation

Posted by  ▪  September 21, 2011
I get Presseurope, a roundup of translated opinion pieces from the EU, sent to my email. For the most part, the newsletter is incredibly informative. For instance, I had no idea that someone could honestly think that the Greeks deserved pity… or that disbanding the German nuclear program was a great idea. But I don’t necessarily…

“I voted for him, I’m a Democrat, but Obama who?”

More Turkish threats

Posted by  ▪  September 21, 2011
It’s all about the natural gas and Erdogan’s ego: Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan described offshore gas drilling by estranged ally Israel and Cyprus as “madness” on Wednesday, raising the stakes in a confrontation over potentially huge deposits in the eastern Mediterranean…. “The Greek Cypriot administration and Israel are engaging in oil  exploration…

Can The Daily Caller survive?

Posted by  ▪  September 20, 2011
I haven’t posted about the Twitter and blog war which broke out over a clip of Mike Tyson trash talking Sarah Palin in very explicit and violent sexual ways, although I did spotlight Dan Riehl’s post about it as Post of the Day. The controversy is not that a convicted rapist would…

Figures. I was on the bus this morning heading back to Ithaca from my Tea Party talk at the Cornell Club in NYC when I spotted on my PDA a post by Ed Morrissey about an AP Fact Check debunking Obama’s claim that secretaries pay higher taxes than millionaires and billionaires. The millionaires and billionaires…

First it was “targeting” congressional seats. Then, it was opposing gay marriage. Now, as The Other McCain reports, not publicizing one’s (alleged) bisexuality. “I gave Ellen Page a decent chance to come out with the truth,” Topitschnig posted on V-Generations. “Two months ago, I mentioned her in my LGBT article and made it pretty…
