In what could be a landmark in the Middle East's history, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flew to Saudi Arabia on Sunday to meet the country's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Israeli media reported. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, currently on a tour of the region, was also reportedly present at the meeting in Neom, Saudi Arabia.

The news of Serbia and Muslim-majority Kosovo opening their embassies in Jerusalem has triggered a new wave of anger within the Palestinian leadership. The Balkan nations moving diplomatic missions to the Holy City is an act of "unjust aggression against the Palestinian people,” the Palestinian Authority said in an official statement.

Serbia and Kosovo have agreed to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with Israel, the White House announced in a statement on Friday. Both countries, part of the former Yugoslavia, will relocate their embassies to Jerusalem, news reports said. The move will make Kosovo the first Muslim-majority country to open a diplomatic mission in the Holy City, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Friday.

The Palestinians are "deeply pained" to witness the flight carrying the first official Israeli delegation to the United Arab Emirates following the last month's historic peace agreement brokered by President Donald Trump, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said. "It pains us to see an Israeli plane land in the United Arab Emirates," he complained, as the first-ever commercial flight from Israel to the UAE landed at the Abu Dhabi airport on Monday.

This is breaking news, and will be updated. Donald Trump has announced a peace agreement has been reached through U.S. efforts between Israel and the United Arab Emirites. The UAE would be only the third Arab country, after Egypt and Jordan, to make peace and establish full diplomatic relations with Israel. Israel has agreed to "suspend" plans to "annex" sections of Judea and Samaria.

Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives have released an open letter warning the Israeli government against applying sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria region. The letter addressed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior members of his government was endorsed by 191 out of 233 House Democrats. None of the 197 Republicans in the House supported the move.

From March 1-3, 2020, I attended the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Annual Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. on a press pass. As part of my coverage of the conference, I spent nearly four hours interviewing, taping, and photographing anti-Israel protesters who had gathered outside the venue. Though their chants of "Judaism, yes! Zionism, no!" might have been meant to convey a rejection of anti-Semitism, the protesters' statements and behavior both during and after the rally shows how deeply and often anti-Jewish hatred informs anti-Israel worldviews.
