Legal Insurrection readers will note that since February, 2020 we have been covering reports regarding a leak from a laboratory in Wuhan, China being the origin of the coronavirus at the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, veteran science writer Nicholas Wade recently published a detailed review of the pandemic, and made a persuasive case that a leak from a laboratory at the city's Institute of Virology must be seriously considered as the original source of the contagion.

Three videos with "unidentified aerial phenomena" have made their way around the internet for years after someone leaked them in 2007 and 2017. The Navy authenticated the videos as Leslie blogged last year. On Monday, the Pentagon officially released these videos, almost a year after I blogged that the Pentagon still investigates claims and reports of UFOs. Because an alien invasion would be the cherry on top for 2020!

I have often noted that Food Science is clearly the most unsettled science of them all. Experts have lectured us for years about the need to reduce red and processed meat from our diets. But a new report indicates that they based their advice on bad science.
If there are health benefits from eating less beef and pork, they are small, the researchers concluded. Indeed, the advantages are so faint that they can be discerned only when looking at large populations, the scientists said, and are not sufficient to tell individuals to change their meat-eating habits.

Mauna Kea, the tallest peak in Hawaii, is one of the best sites in the world for astronomical observations. In fact, a consortium led by Caltech and the University of California are planning to construct an 18-story telescope to contribute to the renewed interest in space exploration and discovery during the Trump administration.

Our tax dollars at work! The Department of Defense admitted to The New York Post that officials still investigate any reports on UFOs:
In a statement provided exclusively to The Post, a Department of Defense spokesman said a secret government initiative called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program [AATIP] “did pursue research and investigation into unidentified aerial phenomena.”

There are two types of science practiced today: Real science and politicized science. Netflix has come under fire for allegedly trying to palm off fake information about walrus deaths as serious proof of climate change.
Netflix’s acclaimed Our Planet series has come under fire for “tragedy porn” over images of walruses falling to their deaths from cliff tops, allegedly because of climate change.

For so long we have wondered what a black hole looks like with only images from scientists on how a black hole may appear. On Wednesday morning, astronomers released the first ever picture of a black hole in space.
