Pete Buttigieg Tag

Back in the spring of 2019, the political world was marveling at how small-town mayor Pete Buttigieg seemingly arrived from out of nowhere and took over Beto O’Rourke’s spot as the media’s favorite Democratic presidential candidate.

You just knew that in an era of pathological Trump Derangement Syndrome, Democrats would blame Trump for Iran shooting down a Ukrainian airliner at Tehran airport on the night Iran fired ballistic missiles at bases in Iraq housing U.S. troops. Iran fired the missile, there were no U.S. planes in action over Tehran and we were not firing at them, but somehow Trump would be blamed. Laurence Tribe, the TDS-infused Harvard Law School professor, is going there:

At last night's Democrat debate, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana and one of the legions of Democrat candidates for president Pete Buttigieg responded well to attacks by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). She started out quite puffed up and pleased with herself as she launched into a holier-than-thou tirade about Buttigieg's "wine cave" fundraiser.  It wasn't long, however, before Buttigieg landed a few home truths that left her visibly shaken and extremely defensive.

Since 2012, we have covered Elizabeth Warren's years representing large corporations against the interests of employees and others Warren now claims to champion. Warren likely earned millions of dollars in compensation, but never has disclosed those amounts. Indeed, our research led the way, with even The Washington Post recently crediting us for unearthing Warren's legal representation of Dow Chemical against women claiming damages for breast implants.

Given how completely out of left field the leading 2020 Democrat presidential contenders are, it's become somewhat common to see Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, as a moderate.  Perhaps when compared to socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and fringe leftist Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), he is a moderate. But that's still miles from the center where ordinary Americans tend to reside.
