Houston Restaurant Forced to Shut Down Social Media Accounts After Posting Picture With AG Session

One of Houston's most loved Tex-Mex restaurants, El Tiempo, (they have great margaritas, btw) was harassed into shutting down all of their social media accounts Saturday afternoon after sharing a picture of the restaurant's owner, Roland Laurenzo and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Houston Mayor Pushes Back Against Plans for Immigrant Child Detention Center

Houston's Mayor Sylvester Turner held a press conference with local community leaders Monday to push back against plans to use a former warehouse located just outside of downtown Houston as an immigrant child holding facility. Turner, "said he is in no rush to issue city permits at the site, and called on the state not to issue a childcare license to the 54,000-square-foot facility," reports the Houston Chronicle.

NFL star Michael Bennett Indicted on Felony Charge of Injury of the Elderly

A Harris County grand jury indicted Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett on a federal charge of injury of the elderly at the 2017 Super Bowl that took place at Houston's NRG Stadium. Bennett allegedly forced his way through security to get on the field to celebrate with his brother and the New England Patriots. He allegedly injured a 66-year-old paraplegic woman on the security team.

Israel Sends Aid to Hurricane-Battered Houston

Though Israel is a small country, when disaster strikes it is among the first countries and most involved in rescue and recovery efforts. (I blogged about this nearly four years ago. The IDF published an updated article on Israel's aid in emergency situations last month.) While Israeli volunteers often go to places Nepal, Haiti, or the Philippines, Israel was again at the forefront of international rescue and recovery efforts in Houston.
