Public health officials are reporting that Southern California is seeing a a spike in the number of cases of a wind-borne disease that inflames blood vessels and can cause heart failure.
Since the start of the year, 16 kids have been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency. Researchers at the UC San Diego School of Medicine told the agency that twice as many children have been diagnosed compared with previous years.

The Houston Health Department confirmed seven mumps cases at the city's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility.
Officials said that all seven people were adults who were detained during the time they became sick. "Since these individuals were isolated inside the facility during the period they were infectious, we do not anticipate these cases posing a threat to the community," said Dr. David Persse, Houston's local health authority and EMS medical director."

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) came under a lot of heat during her CNN townhall when she said she wanted to eliminate private health insurance. Despite the backlash she received for her comments, Harris's press secretary Ian Sams attempted to clarify that she still believes in Medicare-for-All, which would also eliminate private insurance... political doublespeak at its finest.

During talks with President Trump on Saturday, China reportedly agreed to label the synthetic opioid fentanyl a controlled substance. The White House is calling this move a "wonderful humanitarian gesture." The National Institute on Drug Abuse reported that "a research letter published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) concluded that nearly half of opioid-related deaths in 2016 involved fentanyl."

A nightmarish scene unfolded at New Haven Green this week, a park located near Yale University. Throughout the course of the day on Thursday, emergency officials responded to dozens of cases of drug overdoses. A synthetic form of marijuana is believed to be the cause. The actual number of people afflicted has varied among sources.

While Democrats and the media dial their outrage up to ten about the children of illegal immigrants, another crisis is continuing to unfold which affects thousands of American kids. The opioid crisis is still happening, and separates children from their parents - sometimes permanently.

California seems determined to do everything it can to spite Trump, even if their decisions ultimately bankrupt the state. They already have an illegal immigration problem. Won't offering free healthcare to illegals make the situation worse?
