The Afghanistan withdrawal was a disaster, but it may also have been the gush of water that broke the dam for Joe Biden and his party. Biden's job approval is in free fall, and that is bad news for Democrats in 2022. Republicans were already favored to take back the House, but the Senate is more in play with each passing day.

Terry McAuliffe, the Democrat and former Virginia governor who is trying to get his old job back, made some rather revealing remarks about COVID and vaccinations during a recent conference on health. McAuliffe said he wants to "make life difficult" for the unvaccinated. Is the promise to be a tyrant really a selling point for Democrats now?

The Biden administration fully embraced the extension of the eviction moratorium declared by the CDC at The Squad's behest. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Cori Bush did a public protest, but other squad members pushed just as hard for it. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) were both vocal proponents of canceling the rent, yet both of them have collected rental income over the last year.

When thinking and writing about politics, we often focus on the left and the right. However, the people who fall somewhere in between are often more important in elections. The 2022 midterms are still quite a way off. but Biden is not polling well with independent voters. If that trend continues, it could be very bad news for Democrats.
