To the shock of no one, the “Indigenous Peoples Day of Rage" in Portland, OR, took a violent and chaotic turn. The rioters targeted statues of President Teddy Roosevelt and...President Abe Lincoln. Oh, they also damaged the Oregon Historical Society building and Portland State University.

Duquesne University Education Professor Gary Shank has been on leave since mid-September for using the N-word in a class discussion about why the word is inappropriate. Shank gave students permission to use the word for the sake of their discussion, and this set off a firestorm. Now the school has terminated his employment.

It's not like I told you so, but I told you so. For years I have been documenting the increasingly oppressive atmosphere for free speech at Cornell University, including shout-downs and disruptions of conservative and/or pro-Israel speakers and events. That atmosphere now is in overdrive with a push from the top-down of the admninistration to turn the campus into an exercise is activism, Cornell University takes a major step towards compulsory racial activism for faculty, students, and staff.

The Black Lives Matters protests triggered a review of items and exhibits at London's Natural History Museum, which includes one about Charles Darwin. It turns out one curator labeled Darwin's visit to the Galapagos Island "as one of Britain's many 'colonialist scientific expeditions.'"

USC Prof Placed on Temporary Leave for Using Chinese Word That Sounds Like Racial Slur in English

Professor Greg Patton teaches at University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. During a recent online lesson, he spoke about how different words can sound in different languages. Without any apparent harmful intent, he pointed out how something sounds in Chinese, and some people heard a racist word. He has since been placed on temporary leave.
