‘Indigenous Peoples Day of Rage’ in Portland Takes Aim at Teddy Roosevelt, Abe Lincoln, and Historical Society

State Rep. Tawna Sanchez: “We have to learn from the past in order to make things better.”

To the shock of no one, the “Indigenous Peoples Day of Rage” in Portland, OR, took a violent and chaotic turn.

The rioters targeted statues of President Teddy Roosevelt and…President Abe Lincoln. Oh, they also damaged the Oregon Historical Society building and Portland State University.

This is absolutely disgusting. It proves once again that these people just want to cause chaos and damage.

Destroying the statues suck, but why target the museums and university? From Oregon Live:

During a news conference on Monday — Indigenous Peoples’ Day —Wheeler, State Rep. Tawna Sanchez, the only Indigenous member of the state Legislature, and Police Chief Chuck Lovell called damages to the Oregon Historical Society as well as several downtown businesses and Portland State University buildings “obscene”, “inappropriate” and “unconscionable,” particularly because the museum has worked to help people understand Oregon’s history of racism.

“To destroy that is to destroy the past,” said Sanchez, who represents North and Northeast Portland. “We have to grow and learn from the past. We cannot just dismiss it and make it go away and act as if something is going to be better afterwards. We have to learn from the past in order to make things better.”

The vandalism ticked off Native leaders as well:

A group of Native leaders from Portland, the Indian Leaders Roundtable, said they denounced the property damage from the night before. The damage to the Oregon Historical Society building was disappointing, particularly because of recent exhibits that displayed accurate depictions of Native American history, the group said.

“We understand that there is justifiable righteous indignation over the unconscionable mistreatment of our people and communities over centuries, and that Indigenous People’s Day its a time to reflect and speak out against these injustices,” The Portland Indian Leaders Roundtable said. “Yet, we cannot condone pointless acts of vandalism and the brandishing of weapons that serve only to detract from the real message that must be heard.”

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler condemned the vandalism, but I have one question. What will he do to stop all of this? Every night for over 100 nights Portland has seen violence and riots.

Wheeler claimed his administration has “‘the road map’ to address the destructive actions of some protesters during demonstrations.”

Portland, like a few other cities, took $15 million from the police budget when officials adopted the budget in June.

But the amount could go as high as “$27 million by the end of fall, due to coronavirus-related cuts and other reductions.”

Wheeler does not think officials will strip more money from the police department “due to concerns he’s heard from the public on long delays in the time it takes officers to respond to emergency calls.”

Gee, who would have thunk?!

There is no hope in sight for the people of Portland. They are getting what they voted for. Good and hard it seems.

You know I really hate it when people say that.
Here in Mi. I definitely did NOT get what I voted for.

That’s always the great flaw in the whole concept of representative government. It assumes a sensible and moral electorate, but in practice must struggle along without it.

Our founders stated that our form of republic government would only work with a moral people.

          In Defense Of Columbus Day

“With the call to abolish Columbus Day in favor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, there is the implication that American Indians were and are more virtuous, deserving, and noble than their European counterparts. The left tends to romanticize American Indians while vilifying Europeans. It’s true there were atrocities and injustices done to the American Indians, but that’s only one side of the story. Guess what: nothing the Europeans did was at all different from what the natives themselves did.

American Indians also conquered other native peoples for their land and to acquire slaves.

Slavery was widely practiced in pre-Columbian America, just as it was practiced everywhere at the time. According to the Standard Cross-Cultural Files, at least thirty-nine pre-Columbian societies in North America alone practiced slavery, and it was not at all different from the slavery practiced elsewhere. Indian slave masters had complete control over their slaves, even to kill them if they desired. It’s a little known fact that in the nineteenth century, American Indians began to acquire black slaves. In fact, the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole Indians took a number of black slaves with them as they were forcibly relocated to Oklahoma “Indian” Territory. In short, American Indians had the same sins and vices as the Europeans, and even some they didn’t have.

Nothing highlights this more than the Aztecs in what is today Mexico. The Aztecs had an unrivaled occult bloodlust. Some historians estimate that the Aztecs ritually sacrificed 50,000 people per year in a population area of four to five million. That equated to sacrificing one percent of their total population annually. Those ritually sacrificed were often captives taken from neighboring tribes. The manner in which they were sacrificed was particularly barbaric. Captives were taken to the top of a temple and laid upon a stone slab. The priest would then take a sharp knife, plunge it into their chests, and rip out their still-beating hearts. The bodies were then dismembered, the torso kicked down the temple steps, and the limbs were eaten. The heads of the sacrificed were placed on a pole and kept as trophies. Bernal Díaz del Castillo, who accompanied Hernán Cortés on his conquest of Mexico, witnessed more than one hundred thousand skulls stacked meticulously on top of one another, which Aztec texts, frescoes, and archeology have confirmed. Most of the victims were men, but women and children were also sacrificed. Women would also have their hearts ripped out, but more often they were slowly beheaded and skinned. The priests would often wear these human skins while the sacrifices continued. In one event, during the consecration of a new temple, an estimated 20,000 to 80,000 people were sacrificed over a four-day period. That is the very definition of a genocide…..”

Yes, we’re screwed. To increase the democrat voter base
Portland’s ultra liberal politicians, for years, have been pandering to mostly California parasites. The insane democrats are working hard to make Portland worse than San Francisco. Ironically, most the damage has been inflicted upon liberal democrats. Portland’s liberal democrats are leaving only to infect the cities they move to. This is what’s going to happen to your states unless you prohibit California democrats from immigrating to your state.

Sure … blame what you can’t accomplish in you’re own state on people that move in from CA. People are leaving CA because they don’t like its expense and politics … not to import CA politics.

That’s like saying, “Locusts left Springfield because its farms had been denuded — not because they had any intent to commit damage to Shelbyville.”

“PortlandPolice found it blocks away, wet.”

Wouldn’t put it past those thugs to have pissed on it.

It seems that large groups of people are not comfortable being at the top of the food chain. Let the soy boys don their flannel footie pajamas and curl up in mom’s basement. Maybe she’ll bring you a cocoa.

more proof that “white supremists” are the #1 threat of ‘extremism’ in America today?

after all – our various alphabet agencies told Congress so

what a joke

PODKen in reply to fishstick. | October 13, 2020 at 4:47 pm

The real supremacists are the rioters and those that support ’em. Those are the people that are telling the rest of us how we should think, act and talk … and ain’t hardly anyone calling ’em out. Disgusting.

the day of rage isn’t here yet but it’s coming.

Recent archeological excavations, particularly in Texas, reveal artifacts that are carbon dating to before the Asians came across the land bridge during the Ice Age. It is becoming apparent that there were people in the Americas prior to the migration of those we call ‘Indigenous’. These ‘Paleo’ Americans may have been here for 40,000 years. They were not Asian. They disappeared when the Asians migrated here. Draw your own conclusions.

So, those we call Indigenous People were actually Intermediate People.

They may have integrated as some Neanderthal did. Most new guys on the block fight for the king of the hill however.

It’s all so ridiculous, it’s the way life has always been, America is just the most recent and yes, I am shamed of what we did to the Indians, but also, I didn’t do it.

amatuerwrangler in reply to MattMusson. | October 13, 2020 at 10:55 am

There are anthropologists/anthropologists who subscribe to the idea that there were multiple “land bridge” migrations; sometimes it was land, others it was ice, and the routes varied as they moved south populating what we call North America (and beyond) today. Many societies and “civilizations” rose and fell over the eons, here in the “new world”.

If Dr. Louis Leakey is correct, it all started in what is now called Africa.

DaveGinOly in reply to MattMusson. | October 13, 2020 at 4:34 pm

I believe Native Americans tried to prevent the study of Kennewick Man out of fear that he would prove to be of stock different from them, making the ancestors of today’s Native Americans the “Second People,” and raising questions about what might have happened to the actual “First” (or at least the “preceding”) people (genocide?). Such a discovery would have knocked them from their high horse. I do believe archaeology will do that, sooner or later.

The people of Portland must be the stupidest people in the world and that’s a world that includes Califorians and New Yorkers. Look at who they elected mayor and who is running now. Cuomo killed thousands of elderly people but makes Wheeler look totally incompetent. People of Portland, always remember that you are who you vote for. Surprise me and elect some sane, competent people to office.

Tawna Sanchez got it right: “We have to learn from the past in order to make things better.”

For example, if a country tolerates revolutionaries, terrorists, fifth columnists, traitors, then it will be destroyed by them.

The Real Truth | October 13, 2020 at 10:26 am

The People of Portland have put an extremely INCOMPETENT person in office to run their City , The City is being run by RIOTERS/TERRORISTS, and apparently the Mayor is not aware of this. If you keep on doing the same thing, you will get the SAME results. STOP electing incompetent Democrat Leaders, and just MAYBE, you will get your great City BACK !

MajorWood in reply to The Real Truth. | October 13, 2020 at 12:04 pm

Portland’s solution is going to come from the outside. I see the rural areas and less urbanized zones shifting much redder with this election. These people don’t want Portland to come to them. Antifa isn’t winning over the hearts and minds, trust me.

Then maybe voters should be given a candidate who could be a competent leader to vote for …

henrybowman in reply to PODKen. | October 13, 2020 at 5:29 pm

When you sit back on your a* and wait for your “leaders” to “give” you a good candidate, this is the only type of candidate you will ever get.
Case in point: the RNC never “gave” us Trump. They “gave” us Romney, McCain, Dole, and both Bushes. Who worked out better?

Antifundamentalist | October 13, 2020 at 10:31 am

I’m willing to bet that the vast majority of these people have no Indigenous blood in their veins at all. Much like the caucasions causing the most destruction in the BLM rioting – they aren’t really their for a cause – they have no respect for it at all, no respect at all for the people on whose behalf they claim to be protesting – they are there to be destructive for the sake of destruction.

Next month it’s Native American Heritage Day?????

So every month?

And Mayor Ted Wheeler is losing to a woman who openly claims, “I am Antifa.” This is what Portland voters want; let them have it. Just don’t ask me to pay for the clean-up.

This insanity is quite rational once one understands the revolution proven Maoist teachings and Antifa objectives explained at https://oberlinchaos.com/litigation/hall-of-shame/black-lives-matter-error/

“Chief Chuck Lovell called damages to the Oregon Historical Society as well as several downtown businesses and Portland State University buildings ‘obscene’, ‘inappropriate’ and ‘unconscionable,’ particularly because the museum has worked to help people understand Oregon’s history of racism.”

Chief Chuck Lowell is setting the bar far too low. The point isn’t whether or not the museum is good or bad, but that mobs do not have the right to decide whether or not it can exists.

Even if its message were horrible, wrong, offensive to practically everyone (etc.) it would have a right to exist.

How sure of your moral superiority must you be in order to believe you have a right to use violence to silence people or organizations you disagree with?

Now what is it that we call a “spontaneous” “day of rage” of destruction, featuring lots of broken window glass? Let me think . . . it’s happened before . . . oh, I have it—Kristallnacht.

Return Portland to pre-colonial status. The rioters are just scraping the surface. They have benefited from that colonial system. Now give them what will halpen. No running water, no waste removal, no electricity, no petroleum based products….in short give them Venezuela and brick them in as Poe wrote.

i’m actually surprised to learn portland even have statues of roosevelt and lincoln. franklin yes, but teddy?

Damn straight … “How sure of your moral superiority must you be in order to believe you have a right to use violence to silence people or organizations you disagree with”
