The last time I checked in with a Baby Walt Update was December last year.

It's been a long times since I did a Baby Walt update post. Over a year, in fact. For a few reasons. One -- that he's doing so well. And two, it's hard. Hard to venture back into two years ago when my little man made a dramatic arrival, turned blue, and was whisked away in a helicopter to another hospital where he wasn't expected to make it through the night.

Last Thanksgiving was the worst Thanksgiving I have ever had. My husband and I got up and dressed in the morning and headed to the NICU to spend some precious time with our four-day-old son, Baby Walt and had planned to come back and do our best to enjoy the rest of the day with our daughters and family. Walter was born with a very rare congenital heart defect of which he had an incredibly severe case, one we were not aware of until his birth.

It's been a few months since I've shared an update on Baby Walt, mainly thanks to the world shutting down and life changing suddenly and dramatically, though not necessarily badly. Walt turned 7 months old last week, which is hard to believe and also, truly miraculous.

Baby Walt turned four months old yesterday, though it feels like he's been with us always. And seems impossible that it's only been four months.

On Sunday morning, November 24, Walter Canon, son of Kemberlee Kaye and her husband Jeff, entered the world at 9 lbs. 8 oz. He joins his two big sisters, who have been anxiously awaiting his arrival. Walt was born with a congenital heart problem, and is being cared for by doctors and nurses at a Houston children's hospital.
