Unborn human beings in West Virginia and Alabama received a huge win on Tuesday when voters chose amendments that would protect their rights in utero if the Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade. Without Roe vs. Wade, abortion would go to the states. In West Virginia, voters chose to end taxpayer funded abortions. Alabama citizens voted that those unborn human beings have a right to life.

Late Thursday night, a man opened fire on the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, CA, during a college event. He killed 12 people, including Sgt. Ron Helus, who rushed to the building when he heard the man still shooting inside the bar. Reports have surfaced that authorities identified the shooter as former Marine Ian David Long, 29, and that neighbors said "he went by his middle name."

Doing away with diplomatic niceties, the top European Union officials have welcomed the gains made by the Democrats in the US midterm elections. Vice President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans hailed the electoral results while attacking the Trump administration for its "racism" and "rudeness." "Inspired by voters in the U.S. who chose hope over fear, civility over rudeness, inclusion over racism, equality over discrimination," Timmermans wrote on Twitter. EU Economic Commissioner, Pierre Moscovici, also cheered the Democrats winning the House majority. "The Democrats win the House of Representatives for the first time in eight years despite powerful Republican gerrymandering," Moscovici said.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg remains hospitalized after she fell in her office, which caused her to break three ribs. From USA Today:

While Tucker Carlson was on the air in the Washington, DC, FOX News studio on Wednesday night, a mob of Antifa thugs assembled outside of his home and threatened him and his family. The group that did this is Smash Racism DC, the same folks who harassed Ted Cruz and his wife at a restaurant last month.

We covered earlier today how CNN's Jim Acosta refused to hand over a White House microphone when asked to do so, instead insisting on continuing to shout questions after already having asked a question and engaged in a back and forth with Trump. Trump tried to call on other reporters, and directed a female staffer to get the microphone from Acosta and give it to the next questioner. But Acosts physically prevented the female staffer from getting the microphone out of his hands.

Today was a beautiful day in San Diego: Few clouds, 75 degree hight temperature, and light breeze. Why do I bring this up? Because last night's election results for the State lead me to conclude the weather is the sole aspect of this nuthouse worth touting.

President Donald Trump locked horns with CNN's Jim Acosta. As usual, Acosta used the press conference to create a spectacle, refusing to cede his turn to the next reporter when Trump had moved on and hanging on to the mic when a staffer tried to take it to pass to the next reporter. When Acosta kept on, Trump told him to stop. From Fox News:
“That's enough. Put down the mic,” he ordered Acosta, as a White House aide tried to take the microphone from him, only for Acosta to initially refuse to turn it over and push her arm down. “I tell you what, CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them. You are a rude, terrible person, you shouldn’t be working for CNN.”

President Donald Trump tweeted that he will hold a press conference at 11:30AM ET to discuss the Republicans "success" in Tuesday's midterm elections. Like previous administrations, the party of the president lost the House, but the Republicans made decent gains within the Senate.

In October, it looked like Keith Ellison might lose his race for Minnesota Attorney General, even though he was the favorite. I discussed Ellison's troubling and continued relationship with Louis Farrakhan, and the accusations by a former girlfriend of domestic abuse,  in my post, Is political end finally here for former Farrakhan activist Keith Ellison? Down 7 points in Minnesota AG race.

It could have been worse. Much worse. There was no Blue Wave. Democrats performed in the House in accordance with historical averages for gains in a president's first midterms.
