Yesterday, Kemberlee wrote a super post about Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and the myriad allegations of decades of sexual abuse, intimidation, and harassment of actresses, production staff, and apparently any female within arm's reach. From reports of Weinstein demanding naked massages from women to actually masturbating in front of women over whom he wielded immense power, Weinstein's decades of sexual perversion make the Trump Access Hollywood tape that outraged Democrats and the mainstream media look like a feminist manifesto.

French police have charged three men with "attempted murder in an organised group in connection with a terrorist enterprise" after they found several gas canisters placed in an apartment block in Paris.  It's not clear why the canisters were not detonated or why an apartment complex was targeted. The Times of Israel reports:
Three men have been handed preliminary terror-linked charges in the failed attack at a residential building in an upscale Paris neighborhood with gas canisters that failed to ignite. The three, identified as Amine A, his cousin Sami B, and Aymen B., were charged late Friday with “attempted murder in an organized group in connection with a terrorist enterprise” and placed in pre-trial detention, a judicial source said.

Since President Trump's election, we've seen remarkable ideological turnarounds from the left.  Suddenly, communist Russia is the enemy rather than a model for the perfect society ala Bernie's decades-long admiration, the First Amendment is now of some import in protecting free speech (theirs and no one else's), and the unrestrained spending of the federal government is now a problem. These are the same people who have said nothing about Obama nearly doubling our national debt, who cue up to sing the praises of Bernie's Russia-inspired budget-busting lunacy regarding free college and Medicare for all, and who shrug and note that a few million taxpayer dollars used to train for a zombie apocalypse is merely a drop in the bucket of the federal budget.

Pew Research Center has released an extensive report on the media coverage of President Trump's first 100 days.  There are a lot of interesting tidbits throughout, but the overriding conclusion is the right-leaning outlets were more neutral in their coverage than left-leaning or "mixed" outlets. Further, Pew found that right-leaning outlets were more likely to present negative Trump stories than left-leaning outlets were likely to present positive Trump stories.

Because Virginia's constitution does not permit current Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) to run for another term, there is no incumbent for voters to assess when they vote for a new governor on November 7th. A Libertarian convention and regular primaries earlier this summer resulted in a three-way race amongst Republican Ed Gillespie, Democrat Ralph Northam, and (nonstarter) Libertarian Cliff Hyra. According to Real Clear Politics averages, Northam was leading Gillespie last month by 4.4 points.

We blogged about the Kurdish Independence vote held last week and about the resulting international threats and tensions, including the closing of Kurdish airports. Pro-western Iraqi Kurds are disappointed by the lukewarm European response to their overwhelming victory, and can't be too happy with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's statement that the U. S. does not recognize their independence referendum. Turkey, Iran, and Iraq are stepping up their disapproval of the referendum and moving to isolate the Kurdish region of Iraq.

After their successful parliamentary elections in 2015, Catalonia votes Sunday on independence from Spain. Madrid is decidedly not happy and has sent police to seize voting boxes and to arrest pro-independence officials. There are also reports of clashes between police sent to stop the "illegal" Catalonia Independence referendum and Catalans eager for independence. The Washington Post reports:
When Catalans go to the polls on Sunday, they'll find just one question on the ballot: “Do you want Catalonia to become an independent state in the form of a republic?”

There have been three reported terrorist attacks.  One occurred in Marseille, where two women were killed, and two occurred in Edmonton, where at least five people have been wounded. Edmonton police believe the two attacks there are related, possibly involving the same terrorist.  The terrorist was later arrested and is now in police custody. At a railway station in Marseille, a terrorist stabbed two females, killing them both.  Witnesses report that he yelled "Allahu Akbar" before being shot dead by French military personnel who were patrolling the station.

As the GOP-led Congress fails to fulfill its seven-year, oft-repeated pledge to repeal ObamaCare and fails to support meaningful immigration reform that includes securing our border (building the wall), right-leaning voters who put them in power are becoming more and more restless, frustrated, and angry. Luther Strange's primary drubbing in Alabama suggests that the Trump phenomena is looking less and less like a cult of personality and more and more like a Tea Party-inspired insurrection. When then-presidential candidate Trump said that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose any voters, many pundits and politicians marveled at his hubris while others rankled at the all-too-apparent truth of his statement. Trump supporters stuck with him through the Inside Edition tape release and the Trump University fiasco.  His opponents on both the left and the right were puzzled beyond measure, and for good reason.  These and any number of other problematic issues in Trump's background would have derailed any politician.

When it comes to unhinged behavior from rabid leftists, I'm rarely surprised.  Poop on a police car?  Ick, but it figures.  Set up "rape tents" at the kumbaya Occupy camps?  Sad, but it figures.  Aging has-been pop singer claiming she dreams of blowing up the White House?  Disgraceful, but it figures.  Antifa thugs attack random people accusing them of being Nazis?  Horrifying, but it figures.  You get the picture.  Leftist outrages are many and varied; hardly anything they say or do surprises, much less shocks, me. But I was surprised to see the video of a California college student taking the MAGA hat off of a fellow student's head, marching over to Student Life to "report" him, and then launching into one of the most irrational rants I've ever heard.  Frankly, it  shocked me.  But mostly, it saddened me.

Earlier this month, Mary blogged about Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett claiming that he was racially profiled and victimized by Las Vegas police.  Bennett, an early supporter of former 49er Colin Kaepernick's anti-American protests, further claimed that one of the officers threatened to "blow [his] head off." Police responded to reports of gunfire in a casino, appropriately entered the casino with guns drawn, ordered those present to get down, and saw Bennett fleeing the scene. Additional police body cam footage, along with various security camera footage, has been released and shows that Bennett defied police orders and ran from the casino.  We do not hear whether or not Bennett was threatened with having his head "blown off," however, because that officer's body cam was not on.  This officer may be disciplined for the lapse.

Last year, when then-49er Colin Kaepernick explained why he knelt instead of showing respect for our nation, its flag, or its anthem, he was very clear about the nature of his pointedly anti-America protest.
"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."
This was, of course, in the wake of the Ferguson riots and during the rise of Black Lives Matter.  The context was very pointed and very deliberately anti-America, and it mattered not that it was based on misinformation at best and outright lies at worst.
