NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ Slam Of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Visit Backfires
“How many New Yorkers have moved to Florida? How many Floridians to NYC? How many NYCers lost jobs due to your vax mandate? How many Floridians? Years of school lost NYC v FL? Maybe watch & learn instead of the empty virtue-signaling,” observed one Twitter user.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Democrat “leaders” in blue states like California and New York have made a habit of periodically taking potshots at red state governors like Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, ostensibly on ideological grounds.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, for instance, has repeatedly attacked DeSantis and Abbott for, among other things, supposedly making their states unsafe during the Wuhan virus outbreak and, in DeSantis’ case, for pushing back with all the tools he has at his disposal against wokeism in the public school system and higher ed.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has gone after both Abbott and DeSantis over their policies regarding busing/flying migrants that are dumped on them by the Biden administration to so-called “sanctuary cities” like New York and Chicago, calling Abbott, in particular, an “anti-American governor” for trying to make NYC abide by its stance on being a welcoming haven for illegal immigrants.
Most recently, Adams took to the Twitter machine to try and teach DeSantis a lesson on “values” after learning he was visiting NYC as part of a three-state tour he’s currently on to showcase Florida’s tough-on-crime, pro-law enforcement policies:

Needless to say, that didn’t go over too well with members of DeSantis’ administration, who schooled Adams on a few things:

A video posted to the Ron DeSantis Twitter account shows DeSantis criticizing “woke, anti-police policies” while touting Florida’s record on fighting crime:

During a stop Monday in Staten Island, DeSantis zeroed in on disastrous bail reform policies that have been implemented in blue areas of the country, which he correctly pointed out have emboldened criminals, made the jobs of police departments a lot harder, and have further endangered innocent people:
“I read that New York is the only state that doesn’t allow judges to consider when they’re making a bail determination whether someone’s a danger to the community,” said DeSantis, who’s considered likely to launch a 2024 campaign for president. “That’s like one of the most important things that you need to be considering when you’re making these bail determinations.”
The governor blamed New York’s bail laws on Democrats trying to “out-woke” each other, and in reference to NYPD officers added: “You apprehend a criminal, bring him in, and then they just release ‘em, so you got to risk your life again two weeks later to apprehend the same guy all over again. How does that make any sense? Is that making your community any safer by doing that? So you need to do things like repeal these failed pieces of legislation.”
As of this writing, DeSantis himself has not directly addressed Adams’ jab, but then again, he doesn’t really have to at this point because the amount of people fleeing New York for Florida over issues like higher taxes, cost of living issues, parental rights, and surging crime pretty much tell the story for him.

You love seeing DeSantis articles. It’s the only time anyone pays you any attention.
After nearly five months, New York finally mailed me a copy of my birth certificate so that I could renew my Texas driver’s license. I now have no reason to have anything to do with the state of my birth. For the record: I left NY in Jul 1975, served in the Armed Forces, and finally settled in San Antonio, Texas in May of 1987. For those keeping track, that’s 18 years in New York and 36 years in Texas. I’m a Texan.
Too bad a bunch of Castro crony assholes have infected San Antonio.
Gov. DeSantis knows how to talk the talk and walk the walk. Mayor Eric Adams can do neither. He is man serving in a position that, regretfully, is above his pay grade.
But, he ticks some boxes…
I listened to one early speech.. and he is not a smart person. He is an average person pretending to be a great leader. It isn’t working. NYC is paying dearly.
NYC voters put AOC in Congress, although I admit it was a representative sample from Brooklyn. That alone tells me all I need to know about the shït bag voters in NYC. Below average voters elect below average grifters.
The sad thing is, my son had to work in Albany for a one year Medicine fellowship. He couldn’t wait to get out of there. Albany is the breeding ground for the next generation of communist laws.
The voters in NYC as in most big Democrat-run cities do not vote for competence but for their tribal connection. No matter how stupid or incompetent, blacks will almost totally vote for a black candidate. It’s the same with Hispanics. Only whites vote for a diverse collection of candidates. If this wasn’t so, there would be no black POTUS’, governors, or Congress members. Adams is an example of this as is almost every black mayor in America. This sounds like a racist rant but if you peel back the initial shock, it turns out to be true. Name any large poorly run city in America and tell me who the mayor is and their race. NYC is no different and we can only hope that the voters in these cities come to their senses and look at competence for a change.
I don’t think Adams will be re-elected. He won a tight ranked race that looked to be sensible towards crime. He has been a political creature of the worst order.

I wouldn’t hold my breath about his not being re-elected. NYC voters after showing good sense in electing Giuliani and Bloomberg seem to have gone full-tilt by electing DeBlasio not once but twice.
The good thing about DeSantis and what makes him a great presidential candidate – he knows that he doesn’t have to take every bait! He will still get the press; and there will be plenty to tweet – but he can focus on important stuff!

Another part of his strategy is to not respond because he knows there will be plenty of responses from his supporters. This site is a very good example of this strategy at work. There are MAGA Trump supporters here who constantly disparage DeSantis mostly with distorted half-truths and outright lies. As we saw in Trump’s term, he is too thinned skin and cannot leave the word battles with unimportant people alone. DeSantis is playing it right.
NYC is full of empty office buildings, in Florida you can’t find a parking space. I drive I95 regularly and the amount of NY, PA etc plates heading south is amazing. Not many Florida plates heading north
No one is paying attention to DeSantis “not campaigning” tour. The lesson of Florida better than NY is already won. Meantime, Trump is in East Palestine scoring a major coup against FJB and Mayor Butt Edge Edge and the entire Uniparty establishment. Ohio is in the bag. Trump is on a roll and he hasn’t even kicked off his first campaign tour.

Why would there be mention of Trump, a private citizen, in a post about Buttigieg’s failures? You do know Trump is not president, right? That he hasn’t been for two years, and that he cannot do anything in an official capacity at all? What he did do was great, and very newsworthy, so we covered it. But you can’t possibly imagine we can talk about Trump in an article about an actual government official . . . what would that even look like? Don’t be ridiculous.

It is beyond idiotic to attack DeSantis. DeSantis, who could be Trump’s most powerful ally ,if any of you had a lick of sense.
Don’t bother. These people are unreachable. They are still angry at Cruz for coming in second/winning primaries in ’16 and for not endorsing Trump despite the fact that Trump welcomed his delayed endorsement and praised Cruz repeatedly throughout his presidency. Ditto McCarthy and a whole host of others whom they perceive to have not fully and wholeheartedly worshiped Trump. Trump’s over it all, but not them. On what do you base the false claim that we did not cover Trump’s visit to East Palestine? We did. There was nothing “cursory” about Mary’s (not my) post at all. It’s a great post and includes all kinds of video of various parts of the visit, some great Trump lines, and his great gesture buying the first responders lunch. What is wrong with you? What should it have included that it didn’t, in your mind? It’s quite in line with our coverage of pretty much everthing we cover, we try to include as much detail, video, and report as we can. You know we aren’t a news site, right? We don’t have people on the ground doing original reporting, that’s not our gig (except in rare and watershed legal cases, like Oberlin and the Rittenhouse trial).

Actually, there is a post today here at LI about Trump’s visit to Palestine. LI needs to post all of the “dots” if we are going to connect them. The “truth” will reveal itself in good time. Not enough “dots” are being reported yet though. Like the Senate Republicans (I wonder who that is? Rhymes with Mitch McConnell) getting worried about DeSantis waiting too long to declare at the same time the Democrats are dismayed at Biden not making up his mind. And it’s not a “cult of DeSantis” but a cult of “anybody but Trump”. These threads are loaded with people who just don’t think things through. But I digress.
If DeSantis is going to play the role of “Trump without the baggage”, he will have to declare soon and make his case soon. Otherwise, he risks being judged to being just the latest opportunist striking when he believing this is his golden moment. But his future lies with MAGA regardless of whether he runs. Even he has declared Trump to be THE defacto leader of MAGA and 2024 is Trump’s for the taking. There is good reason to believe that is what is going on. It is the only path that makes sense if DeSantis is the real deal.
So I expect DeSantis to declare he is not running. Everything then falls into place after he endorses Trump sending the GOP Jeb! clown car careening downhill and over the cliff. Again. We then have our two superstar duo back and wreaking havoc against the Deep State.
I am still hoping that all of this this has been a kabuki theater tactic by Trump and DeSantis to draw out the GOPe players and their dirty money. If so, it has worked so far. The Deep State GOPe jumped the gun with recycling their Jeb clown car strategy. So far, DeSantis is not biting.
He hasn’t committed either way but for him to stab the establishment in the back by endorsing Trump would be a fatal blow. We would be off to the races and a landslide win in 2024. The end of the Uniparty and the beginning of the dismantling of the Deep State.

As usual, you are wrong. FL just passed a law allowing the governor of FL to remain in office if he/she runs for another office. I appreciate what Trump did in OH but we ALL know it was a political ploy. That doesn’t make it bad for the people in OH but for those of us looking on, it was a gimmick. Trump is shrewd and can play on people’s emotions but he hasn’t changed a single thing in his campaign of insults and mockery of others. I hope he decides to give it a rest and campaign on what he is going to do.
