Man Hit by Toppled Confederate Statue Last Year Suffering From Traumatic Brain Injury

“I will say right now he has a mind of a 13-year-old because one of the major impacts was his communication, his understanding, and problem-solving”

Last spring when the radical left was toppling historic statues around the country, a man named Chris Green was severely injured when a falling statue landed on his head in Virginia.

Green suffered a coma and now has had to relearn to walk and eat. He lost sight in one eye, hearing in one ear, and saddest of all, can no longer remember the childhood of his own kids.

No one has been held accountable for this.

13 News Now in Virginia reports:

Chris’ Journey | One year after a Confederate statue hit Chris Green in Portsmouth, he fights his way back from a traumatic brain injury.

One year since protesters pulled down part of the Confederate monument n Olde Towne, hitting Chris Green, the husband and father continues to fight his way back from the severe brain injury he suffered.

For the first time since the incident on June 10, 2020, his wife, Tonieh Brisbane-Green, shared video of his journey. In that video, you can see Chris up and walking.

“Through continued rehab, my husband has slowly started to gain back his independence,” said Brisbane-Green, who explained that Green has weekly therapy sessions.

“I will say right now he has a mind of a 13-year-old because one of the major impacts was his communication, his understanding, and problem-solving,” said Brisbane-Green. “He doesn’t have that capacity like he used to, it causes me to make all the decisions best for him, our kids, and our family.”

Chris is blind in one eye and lost his hearing in one ear, but he’s making progress. He’s learning how to eat and walk again, and his speech is slowly coming back.

The caring dad whom Brisbane-Green and her two young children remember still is there, but memory loss is one of his biggest challenges. He can’t remember what his marriage was like before the incident, and the memories of his kids growing up are gone.

Here’s a short video report:

Even though Green was at the protest, my heart breaks for him and his family. The story also makes me even more angry at the people who fueled this hysteria.

At the height of this madness last spring, the magazine ‘Popular Mechanics’ published an article on how to more effectively pull down statues.

A professor at John Jay College offered similar advice.

Where is Black Lives Matter with their millions in donated cash? Where are the Democrats who stood by while their mobs of foot soldiers did this? Where are the media outlets who covered this as a form of social justice? Where are the congressional hearings to determine who is responsible?

Supporters of the Green family have set up a GoFundMe.

Perhaps they should use the money to hire a very good lawyer and sue some people into oblivion.

Don’t blame the statute if you were in on this your brain was already damaged.

He now has the mind of a 13 year old…so still a leftist. With medical bills.

Ouch. That sucks. Guy made a horrible decision and his family is paying the price.

It does serve to illustrate that in the real world actions have consequences. Maybe a few of the Academics and Twitter world dwellers among others can benefit from his example.

Theory doesn’t always survive real world application.

Tragic, but brought on by nothing but his own choices and actions. Play stupid games, win life-altering stupid prizes.

When a mere boy in the 1960s I, along with others, collected baseball cards. One purchased package contained the card of Vernon Law (famed pitcher of the 1960 Yankee-slaying Pirates) on which Law stated a guiding principle, “Life’s a tough teacher. It gives the test first, then the lesson.”

Green made a stupid decision, par for the course in the life of every lefty. Too bad so many others are now bearing the cost of his stupidity.

anyone participating in a BLM protest already has Traumatic Brain Injury

Meanwhile, every week blacks continue to slaughter other blacks, and BLM could not possibly care less.

Did toppling the statue end the rampant black-on-black violence in Chicago, DC, NYC and elsewhere? Was this utterly meaningless gesture that caused a massive life-changing injury worth it?

No one ever got hurt by leaving a statue alone.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I am sorry he did this to himself, but he is to blame for his problem.

I know a guy who is living with a TBI. He sustained his injuries trying to help a wounded teammate, during his second deployment to Iraq.

He was seriously wounded trying to save someone.

The guy in this story got his injuries while breaking the law and trying to destroy something. I feel for his family, but I have no sympathy for him.

I agree with everything the preceding commenters have said. But Mike LaChance also has a point when he asks:

“Where is Black Lives Matter with their millions in donated cash? Where are the Democrats who stood by while their mobs of foot soldiers did this? Where are the media outlets who covered this as a form of social justice? ”

Well, trained Marxist Patrice Cullors is on a shopping spree, spending those millions of dollars in cash. It’s relevant of course that she is a Marxist. And make no mistake, this is a Marxist movement. What they mean by systemic racism is that the capitalist system and the republican political system that elevates the individual and individual rights above the collective are inherently racist and therefore must be abolished and replaced with Marxism.

So where are they? Demonstrating on a daily basis that black lives don’t matter. Thousands of black lives are lost to black on black crime for every black killed by police. But that tiny percentage of black lives lost to police action , blacks who are almost entirely killed because like this individual they chose to engage in criminal activity (or is destruction of public property on this scale no longer a felony?), are the only ones that matter.

Because if they can censor the news so that those are the only black lives that the 24 hour news cycle harps on about, then only those black lives matter because they further the cause of bringing about the Bolshevik revolution.

Chris Green was played. Undoubtedly he wanted to be played, and that’s on him. But the big fish in this scam can’t be allowed to evade all responsibility.

This is social or politically congruent (“=”) justice. Some, Select [Black] Lives Matter.

    That said, Baby Lives Matter.

LaChance also said: “Perhaps they should use the money to hire a very good lawyer and sue some people into oblivion.”

I’m not a heartless person and I feel for his family but they should be praying that he doesn’t get a cautionary tale named after him. This guy isn’t a victim so let’s not make him into one. He has no one to blame but himself. His family should not be out seeking revenge nor a way to make money out of this. Otherwise, what is the lesson to be learned. especially by his children? He should be looking for redemption. His is a cautionary tale and maybe that is the story he should be telling while seeking forgiveness.

It’s like blocking a freeway: the ringleaders choose to have the crowd do something dangerous, and they never get hurt. The family should go looking for deep pockets.

I linked to this on another comment thread, but I’m going to link to it here as well, simply to demonstrate what the CRT mongers mean when they claim “systemic racism.”

    https://montanadailygazette.com/2020/08/07/billings-montana-blm-book-club-teaching-capitalism-is-racism/

“Kendi, the author of its first selection, is a black nationalist and proudly Marxist activist who presents capitalism and innately racist. Kendi dedicated an entire chapter to capitalism and its evils in the book, claiming, “Capitalism is essentially racist. Racism is essentially capitalist.”

Ibram Kendi’s arguments are shallow and bereft of facts for the same reason Nicole Hannah-Jones’ 1619 project is shallow and bereft of facts. CRT is a project designed to replace truth (truth is the new hate speech, doncha know, and a preference for truth rather than whatever narrative that can hurry along the Bolshevik revolution also reeks of racism and white supremacy) with a pack of lies.

The central lie their narratives are built around is that the American Revolution was fought to preserve a system of slavery and White supremacy. The colonials were worried the British were on the verge of abolishing slavery. It’s the exact opposite. By the middle third of the 18th century England had a virtual monopoly on the Transatlantic slave trade. It was in fact the colonials who wanted to end that, but it was a major source of income for the crown. When the colonial legislatures were to vehement in their efforts to stop the slave trade, or abolish slavery altogether, the king would order the governors (the king’s appointed representatives) to ignore them or if the legislatures persisted to dissolve the legislatures.

This is easily proven, but only if you’re a white supremacist like me or a victims of “multi-racial whiteness” (yes, that’s a CRT term) like Coleman Hughes (and MLK Jr.) who have bought into my white supremacist lies that facts and truth matter. Not according to the CRT mongers and other admirable folks like Josef Stalin if truth and facts stand in the way of bringing about the communist paradise on earth.

Kendi argues that society needs to move to a Marxist control of resources by the national government in order to defeat racism, which is inherently tied – in his opinion – to the free market. But as pointed out by Coleman Hughes, a black man and critic of Kendi, his argumentation trying to tie capitalism to racism is shallow and bereft of facts.”

I’m not surprised by how brazen the CRT mongers are about their goals, because the MFM is in the truth suppression business. They can openly talk about their true positions, hatreds, and tyrannical goals and the lying MFM will cover up the facts and utter lies like, “But, but, it’s only about teaching racial sensitivity” (I’m looking at your lying @$$, Chris Wallace, although you’re not the only one) or “But, but, it’s only about teaching honest history.”

I wish Coleman Hughes all the best in his endeavors but the Marxists have covered all the bases by claiming that a preference for facts is in and of itself a mark of white supremacy. Just like a preference for getting the right answer in math and asserting that 2+2=4 reeks of white supremacy.

    Kendi

Why isn’t BLM cash being seized to pay reparations to those damaged?

Hit by a statue of limitations.

RandomCrank | July 31, 2021 at 2:42 pm

Believe it or not, there is a very surprisingly effective (and cheap) treatment for TBI. It is being used in more and more places, no kidding. Success rate >95%. But I pass along the details to the deserving. This guy will not learn about it from me.

Drop another statue on his head?

CommoChief in reply to RandomCrank. | July 31, 2021 at 6:23 pm

Which cure this time? Marijuana or ecstasy? Not for me thanks. I do find that reading helps, active mind exercise.

TBI is one of my disabilities; short term memory is very sketchy. Get lost mid sentence and have to stop and refocus unless I have rehearsed what I am going to say beforehand. I have to be disciplined about little things like putting my keys in the same place or I will have to tear the house apart to find them.

TBI is a real pain. I was looking for my coffee cup yesterday but it was in my left hand so….didn’t notice because I was looking for it. I figured it out after about 60 seconds.

Dathurtz in reply to CommoChief. | August 1, 2021 at 8:42 am

Hell, I do the keys and coffee cup thing without TBI. All it took was a baby that hates sleep.

CommoChief in reply to Dathurtz. | August 1, 2021 at 10:46 am

Yeah it’s a bit more than it was prior. If my keys are not in the correct place then I don’t remember where else I went. So it used to be well I went to the bath before I went in the kitchen and before I wnt in the bedroom.

Now if the keys are not in place I have to search room by room because I don’t remember my exact path from when I had them last. The coffee cup wasn’t for the first or second cup it was the fourth cup…and I drink leaded coffee so I was fully awake…..

It’s hard to describe the issues. Everyone has their own Sr moments but with TBI those Sr moments are continuous. It’s fine now that I have gotten over the frustration and anger about it. That was very counterproductive.

I just have to be disciplined in certain things and write things down. Sort of a shopping list of daily life.

Lucifer Morningstar | July 31, 2021 at 3:04 pm

Perhaps they should use the money to hire a very good lawyer and sue some people into oblivion.

Or perhaps they should return the money to the donors and take fucking responsibility for his own actions that left him a retarded mess instead of mooching off of others for his poor decisions. Great Maker, that’s disgusting.

I really don’t understand the point in this article. Am I suppose to feel sad for this person? Is he a hero struggling to recover from what is basically a self inflected injury? What’s the point?

There are probably millions of people more deserving for sympathy than this guy. Would we be hearing about him if he had been a white construction worker injured at work?

What makes him a “caring” father. What did he do to support his children? To teach them? To instill guidance in them?

From now on tax payers are going to spend a tremendous amount of money to support him and his family. He is neither a victim or a hero.

What a waste, he used to have the mind of a 15 year old. Sad.

BLM is about nothing more than power. Chris Green is a useful idiot to them. He has no further value to them so they do not care about him at all. He is a lesson for all useful idiots but it is a lesson that will not be learned as the potential students are, well, idiots.

BLM is about power. Stop thinking that their words are anything more than a means to an end.

It appears that Chris Green never studied physics.

    Arminius in reply to TX-rifraph. | July 31, 2021 at 6:55 pm

If truth-in-advertising laws applied to political organizations, #BLM would be required to change its hashtag to #OSBDCBEFOPP.

Only Some Black Deaths Can Be Exploited For Our Political Purposes.

And of course Chris Green never studied physics. Physics requires a good working knowledge of math. And math is racist.
