Joe Biden: Latino Community Has Diverse Attitudes “Unlike the African-American Community”

“Unlike the African-American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community, with incredibly different attitudes about different things,” Biden told a reporter.

As it turns out, Joe Biden bizarrely asking black CBS News journalist Errol Barnett if he was a cocaine “junkie” after a question about Biden’s cognitive abilities was not the only cringeworthy moment from an interview Biden did earlier this week.

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee took part Tuesday in what Yahoo News described as a “multi-moderator interview at a conference of Black and Latino journalists” when he was asked a question about Cuban deportations by Latina NPR reporter Lulu Garcia-Navarro.

Garcia-Navarro alleged “Cubans were now being deported in unprecedented numbers” and wondered if Biden would “stop those deportations” and grant Cubans “temporary protected status” as Biden has said he would do for Venezuelans.

As has become the norm, Biden gave a babbling and incoherent answer for about a minute before asserting that the Latino community was “incredibly diverse” in contrast to the African-American community “with notable exceptions”:

“And by the way, what you all know but most people don’t know – unlike the African-American community with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community, with incredibly different attitudes about different things. You to go Florida you find a very different attitude about immigration in certain places than you do when you’re in Arizona. So it’s a very different, very diverse community.”

Watch the short version of Biden’s comments below:

The longer in-context version, which you can watch here or by clicking below, does not change what Biden said. It’s like he just had a random thought bubble and blurted that out in the middle of his rambling answer, as though he was some type of expert on Latino and African-American diversity:

https://twitter.com/linolodge/status/1291408122117009408

Yahoo News’s characterization of Biden’s remarks confirms they weren’t taken out of context:

In an interview with representatives from the national associations of Black and Hispanic journalists while talking about extending temporary protected status to Cubans in Florida communities who are being deported, former Vice President Joe Biden referenced what he said is a distinction between diversity within Black and Latino communities.

I wasn’t able to find a clip of how Garcia-Navarro reacted, but according to the Daily Caller, she “did not comment” on Biden’s statement, and moved on to talking about how former President Obama “was known as ‘the deporter-in-chief.'”

The DC Examiner reports that the full Biden interview was scheduled to be aired today during the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists convention, so it’ll be interesting to see their reactions to these clips (if any).

As of this writing, I haven’t seen any prominent MSM reporters go after Biden’s remarks, unlike how they would have already jumped on them had it been President Trump saying something like this.

Biden has previously been caught in what can at best be charitably described as “gaffes” about the African-American community, including telling New York radio talk show host ‘Charlamagne Tha God’ in May that “if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”

And a year ago this week, Biden told the Iowa Asian and Latino Coalition that “poor kids are just as bright and just talented as white kids.”

With racially insensitive (some would say “racist”) comments like these, it’s no wonder the left-wing chatter suggesting Biden shouldn’t participate in the fall presidential debates is getting louder. Will he he or won’t he? You can weigh in by taking the Legal Insurrection reader poll here.

UPDATE: Biden doubled down on his comments this afternoon:

Wow. Just incredible.

Don’t think Dems could even take 4 years of this bozo.

At least half of American whites would get fired from their current jobs for saying what he says in public.

Biden: “All blacks think alike. Now get back on that Democrat Party Plantation.”

Antifundamentalist in reply to healthguyfsu. | August 6, 2020 at 3:37 pm

The Dems have no intention of 4 years of Biden. They intend to get him elected, declare him incompetent and put his VP in office. I’ll lay odds that happens within the first 90 days after inauguration, if they manage to steal the election.

Stacy Abrams got millions from Soros and the blessing of the Bilderbergs. She will be on the ticket.

DaveGinOly in reply to Antifundamentalist. | August 6, 2020 at 5:22 pm

If they take control of both houses of Congress, they may 25th Amendment him. If they don’t gain control of the Senate, would the Republicans stop the process, saddling the Dems with having to maintain the horse and pony show?

Or will the Dems just have Joe resign? Or will they fake a stroke or some other “medical emergency” that requires his replacement? (To lend verisimilitude to the claim, “Of course this wasn’t planned.”)

Obviously, there are several avenues available. One of the more interesting aspects of a Biden win will be seeing which method is used to remove him from office. Meanwhile, DJT will be able to make hay during the campaign with the claim this is exactly what the Dems intend to do, and, depending on “Biden’s” pick for veep, the veep can become a target as well. “Do you want (veep pick) so-and-so to be president? Because that’s who you will be electing.”

CountMontyC in reply to Antifundamentalist. | August 6, 2020 at 7:51 pm

They will try to ride it out for two years and one day. That way whoever takes over has the potential to have the advantage of incumbency for the next two presidential elections as they would have served less than a half term. Of course if he were to win and decline too precipitously they would remove him asap

antisocialjustice in reply to Antifundamentalist. | August 7, 2020 at 3:36 pm

I’d bet they don’t even inaugurate Biden, something will happen.

They’ll probably martyr him by getting an operative posing as a Trumper to assassinate him.

Then martial law to get the guns. While they build their fences.

And if anyone does not believe they would do that if they could, you are part of the problem.

Great Maker, when are fake Dr. Jill and Joe’s other handlers going to realize that putting Joe out in public for media interviews and other speaking engagements simply isn’t going to work. Joe will always go off and make these bizarre, dare I say lunatic, statements. Ignoring Joe’s massive mental deterioration isn’t going to help but I really don’t know what the solution to this problem could be other than Joe just giving it up and leaving public life with at least a shred of dignity left in his life. But we all know that isn’t likely to happen.

I think this is all in a plan to tip the nomination to Michelle O… leaving the party-line Dems desperate for salvation. Enter stage left… Michelle O to hug Joe and give his hand to Jill to usher off stage. Spotlight then shines on MO and the party is healed. Someone must be down for this new struggle… and there sHE is.

I disagree. Jill Biden has a Hillary! complex and sees herself as the real “power behind the throne”. No way will she voluntarily relinquish the nomination.

Therefore any plan by the Communists to dump Joe will have to muzzle Jill as well. Luckily the Joseph Goebbels media will dance to any tune the Communists play. So if Dr Jill squawks in protest, only the “Far Right” media (read: non-Communist media) will air her complaints.

Not a foolproof plan, but will greatly reduce any negative fallout. If necessary Jill Biden can get smeared as a “white supremacist” or whatever blood libel is handy.

Another edition of “Imagine if a Republican had said this”, and that includes everyone from POTUS all the way down to a small town council member.

“Those compliant Negroes all look and think the same” — that’s the Dhimmi-crats’ manifest racism, in a nutshell.

SpaceInvader | August 6, 2020 at 4:07 pm

What percentage of black voters vote Democrat vs Latino? Biden has a point.

guyjones in reply to SpaceInvader. | August 6, 2020 at 5:21 pm

Statistically, of course, the black community votes nearly as a monolithic bloc, but, it’s the paternalistic racism underpinning Biden’s remarks that’s instructive and reflective of the Dhimmi-crats’ view of black Americans as infantilized, dutiful, compliant lemmings who are incapable of possessing divergent thoughts or attitudes.

Biden increasingly reminds me of Mr. Burns:

“This anonymous clan of slack-jawed troglodytes has cost me the election, and yet if I were to have them killed, I would be the one to go to jail. That’s democracy for you.”

…except Biden would say it on live TV.

Maybe Bye-den has a point. Blacks voted for Obama in 2008, 2012, giving him about 93% of their votes. No diversity of behavior or of thought there.

Routinely blacks vote Democrat in the 90% range.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to fscarn. | August 6, 2020 at 4:50 pm

Routinely blacks vote Democrat in the 90% range.

So do Jews, at least the non-Orthodox.

I wonder what it is for “Hispanics”, and, by that I mean all of them; not just Mexicans.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to The Friendly Grizzly. | August 6, 2020 at 4:51 pm

I meant percentage. Edit button, pleasse?

Please — the proper term is “Latinx…” 😛

      Grizzly said:
      > So do Jews, at least the non-Orthodox.

Well, the non-Orthodox are still a majority of the Jews in USA. And those have mostly embraced all the social-rot that pretends to to be progressive. In the long term, I suspect the non-Orthodox will assimilate themselves out of existence (as effectively happened in 19-century Hungary) while the Orthodox are frantically trying to replace the holocaust losses by having >= 10 children. But that will still take a couple more generations to take.

So the Jew pandering still favors the social-rot embracers, at least with a majority of hungry politicos who seem to have defective spines & gonads.

Rush thought he was just giving the Democrats view point

I understand what he meant to say. He was speaking of the diversity of experiences in the Hispanic/Latino community due to their varied origins (Natives – largely of the SW – and immigrants – from PR, Cuba, Mexico/Central America, etc.) and the experiences of black Americans due to their origins (largely the descendants of slaves).

Still, the fact that Joe is unable couch his statements in a less oblivious and more politically-correct format is a problem for him going into November.

DaveGinOly in reply to DaveGinOly. | August 6, 2020 at 5:30 pm

Note Joe did not say “diversity of thought.” Although everyone’s reaction to his statement is forgiven, because we know he actually does think blacks lack diversity of thought, and has said as much in the past. It’s just that I don’t think that’s what he was speaking of in this particular statement. Has Joe ever specifically indicated that he believes Hispanics/Latinos do have diversity of thought?

    txvet2 in reply to DaveGinOly. | August 6, 2020 at 5:46 pm

Or, he could have been speaking about voting patterns – Cubans, at least up to the Americanized last generation or so, have been regular Republican voters while most other Hispanics tend Democrat. Whatever, this is a tempest in a teapot.

      kyrrat in reply to txvet2. | August 6, 2020 at 6:26 pm

Eh, it’s not a tempest. No one is even pointing out what he said other than conservative blogs. Now if a republican had said this…it would be 24/7 news coverage and they would be eviscerated.

      randian in reply to txvet2. | August 6, 2020 at 8:52 pm

Cubans may nominally vote Republican, but they are too few to matter nationally, and the people they vote for are as Republican as a NY Republican, which is to say not much at all, if Miami is anything to go by. The senior Cuban Republicans routinely block pro-gun bills in Florida’s legislature.

Dusty Pitts in reply to randian. | August 6, 2020 at 11:34 pm

They were enough to matter WRT Florida’s electoral votes in most elections since 1960 — and there have been one or two elections where Florida decided the outcome.

That’s one of the beauties of the Electoral College system.

But in American politicalese, “diverse” is just a fancy way of saying “black”. So only those members of the “Latino community” who happen to count as black can have anything to do with diversity.

Once one admits that “diverse” can apply to any “community”, it’s inescapable that whitey is as diverse as anybody. And then the whole “diversity” push collapses, as we’re already as “diverse” as we can stand.

    DaveGinOly in reply to tom_swift. | August 6, 2020 at 7:56 pm

That’s apparent to anyone with any sense. But the Left just redefines “diversity” to exclude white people, and thus establishes a new reality (according to their own understanding, and therefore the understanding of the MSM).

legacyrepublican | August 6, 2020 at 7:56 pm

He comment can easily be interpreted as “we count on Black Racist Votes!

“Yahoo News’s”
LOL, as if they were really news and not democrat aggregators pushing the agenda.

Barry Soetoro | August 8, 2020 at 2:39 pm

Where’s the lie? In 2016, 89% of Blacks voted for Clinton, while only 66% of Latinos voted for the Evil One. Even Jews are less diverse than Hispanics, as 71% of them voted for her.
