Democrats Impeached Trump, America Yawned

Democrats Impeached Trump, America Yawned

NY Times: “Instead of watching the proceedings in Washington, Americans largely went on with their lives.”

Democrats and their media cohorts are quite pleased with their success in forcing through sham impeachment articles along mostly partisan lines, with the only ones crossing party lines being Democrats who voted with Republicans not to impeach.  Granted, Democrats are still worried that their attempt to interfere with the 2020 election won’t pay off and President Trump will be reelected, but mostly they are celebratory.

Across America, however, it seems that few were paying attention during the impeachment “debate” and vote.  Ratings for the show were unimpressive, and even the New York Times is reporting that people across the nation were focused on “anything but politics.”

The ratings winner among networks for the impeachment show was NBC, with a total of 2.599 million viewers. Fox News won the ratings war for the impeachment vote with 5.032 million viewers.

The Wrap reports:

NBC won the day in ratings Wednesday as the highest total of viewers tuned into the broadcast channel to watch coverage of President Donald Trump’s impeachment.

From 8:45 a.m. ET to 9 p.m. ET, 2.599 million viewers turned on NBC, 694,000 of whom were in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age demographic. Fox News was in second place with 2.368 million total viewers. Fox News was in fourth place among the major news networks when it came to viewers between 25-54: 458,000 of them were in the demo.

. . . . CBS brought in 2.311 million total viewers with 515,000 in the demographic. Next was ABC with 2.308 million, 547,000 of whom were between 25-54.

The last two spots were taken by cable news: MSNBC had 1.480 million total viewers and 256,000 in the key demo. CNN has fewest total viewers at 1.416 million, but did better than MSNBC in the demo: 405,000 of CNN’s viewers were between 25-54.

. . . . Fox News was the most-watched cable news network for the impeachment vote on the House floor, with 5.032 million viewers, 1.1 million of whom were in the demo.

For comparison, consider that more people tuned in to watch Survivor on Wednesday night than to watch the impeachment show on any given network, and those watching the vote were vastly eclipsed by people tuning in to watch The Masked Singer.

ShowBuzz does point out that “Network news special reports last night for the Impeachment vote in the House of Representatives interrupted some programming. Precise program start and end times with actual program ratings will be available later this afternoon. The numbers below are time period numbers with approximate schedules as a rough guide.”

My guess is most people tuning in to watch Survivor, etc. wanted to watch that and not the Democrat impeachment circus.

The New York Times apparently came to a similar conclusion.

The NY Times has changed the title of this article to “Impeachment Unites Many Americans in a Desire for ‘Anything But Politics’.”  The new subtitle is “From Boston to Albuquerque to Atlanta, Americans mostly averted their gaze as impeachment proceedings shook Washington.”

As of this writing the above tweet is still live, but here’s a screen grab should it disappear:

The article has been changed, too, you can view its original content archived here.  The new content, as of this writing, is available via archive here.

Both versions begin with the same observation:

It was a momentous day in American history. But, by all indications, it was not a momentous day in the lives of most Americans.

So while the House of Representatives debated the impeachment of President Trump, one man in Houston was more focused on a $279 speeding ticket. Tourists in Chicago savored an impeachment-free shopping day. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 401 in Albuquerque followed a simple mantra: “Anything but politics, man.”

Only the last paragraph of the intro was rewritten.  Here’s the original at publication:

Americans may be deeply invested in the outcome, but as history played out, many of them were taking whatever opportunity they could to look elsewhere.

And here’s the revised version under the new title:

Americans may be deeply invested in the outcome of impeachment. They might adore or loathe Mr. Trump. But as history played out Wednesday amid the bombast and rancor of impeachment proceedings, many of them seemed intent on looking elsewhere.

Personally, I like the second version better, but both make the same point:  Americans tuned out the Democrat impeachment circus.

I don’t think this lack of concern is reflective of much beyond the fact that between the (more bipartisan) Clinton and the (completely partisan) Trump impeachments, impeachment has come to be seen by the American people as a political weapon rather than the serious and dire consequence for actual high crimes and misdemeanors.

The American people are also just worn out.  Democrats have been screaming for Trump’s impeachment since before he even took office and have spent tens of millions of our taxpayer dollars to try to find a crime that can be used to oust him.

They couldn’t find one despite hundreds of investigators and lawyers scouring everything they could get their hands on over the past three years.  In the end, they settled on the Democrat-led House equivalent of Orange Man Bad. No wonder America tuned out and carried on with their lives.

The left parties while they don’t realize this can move on out of their control with or with them.

Not even showing up on my Bing news band (stories included by reads). Plummeted off the top of DM which started the day with six anti-Trump, pro-impeachment stories. Daily Mail usually leads with its big propaganda stories, however stories are automatically classified by reads thereafter. The top story now is something about Rep. Omar being an adulteress (bad Musulina).

It’s slowly sinking into their super thick skulls that this impeachment is playing completely into the GOP hands and plans?

It must be – otherwise they would not stop the non-stop impeachment drum they’ve beat for the past 3 years.

What about Omar? Did the dig up another husband, again?

Wow!

This DEM “Show” is almost like an early Hanukkah gift.

But President Trump beat them all to the punch.

Trump Trolls Democrats by Sending Giant….Card and (his 6 page he sent to) Pelosi …to Every Senator

“True story: there is a White House staffer going around the Senate delivering to each office, as a package, the incoherent, scathing Pelosi letter AND…wait for it…a giant 16×12 White House Christmas card (along with, implausibly, a second smaller Christmas card),” Murphy tweeted.”

    Ibib.

I must have misunderstood who’s 6-page letter that was.

Let’s just say that the Schiff-Nadler-Pelosi Palooza didn’t play in Peoria.

Nor for that matter in Boise, Birmingham, Billings or Buffalo—and the list goes on.

RGB will be checking out, almost certainly in time for Trump to redeem SCOTUS.

What goes around, comes around. 2020 will be an eventful year and the socialist liberals are will be gnashing their teeth as they look back in sorrow at what they have done.

Meanwhile, let us get on with the business of discovering who the person by the name of Ilhan really is. And let us serve up some unimpeachable justice.

As was said in those old KayTel ads: “But wait…! There’s MORE.

Now, Adam is Sciff-ting his sights over to VP Pence, claiming new evidence of this or that or the other. The circus has not yet left down, kids.

Yeah, I saw that. Sigh. They just won’t give up, and it’s clear that any and all Republicans will/would be treated to the same insanity. Democrats have completely lost the plot and are now just rabid partisans on perpetual attack mode. I’ve long said that their goal is to get rid of Trump, then Pence. And I’ve long said that ANY Republican would have been treated to the same Trump treatment. If Cruz or Rubio or even Mittens McRomneyCare had been elected, they’d have all been impeached, too. The continued baseless assault by Democrats simply confirms my assessment.

The only way to stop this insanity is to vote Republicans back into power in BOTH Houses of Congress and in the White House. Only then might they reflect on their “strategy” of simply overturning election results by impeaching anyone who doesn’t agree with them.

Hey Fuzzy, how do you feel about the clear conflict of interest for Pelosi being next in line and leading the impeachment charade – which if successful, would leave her president? The people voted in a republican president and VP – a double impeachment would install a democrat under present rules. It would be a 3-way coup.

How do I feel about it? I hate it and think it’s wrong on about ten levels. BUT take heart, even if they do succeed in removing Trump (which they won’t), once Pence is sworn in, he will select his VP. If he’s removed, his named VP will be president assuming both House of Congress approve. Today, the House would not approve a new VP selected by a President Pence, but the Senate would. So what happens if Pence is somehow removed from the office he took after Trump was removed from the office to which he was duly elected? My guess, the complete and utter breakdown of society. This would be a coup beyond imagining, and it would bring about civil unrest beyond imagining.

Democrats have undoubtedly become crazed ideologues, but even they must know that such a willful abuse of and grab for power would be roundly and resoundingly rebuked by the American people. I hope they know that because the alternative is clear.

If it happens I hope Pence nominates Trump.

I was hoping for Cruz, but either way, it has to approved by BOTH Houses of Congress. And no Republican will be approved by both Houses. In short, 2020 matters. Best case is not only Trump winning reelection, but the GOP taking back the House and keeping the Senate. That is the end of the Democrat lunacy for a generation.

As I watched the vote, I wondered what gutless Dem voted present. Not willing to go along with the Dems he didn’t have the courage to vote No.

Well now I know, it is not a he it is a she Tulsi Gabbard . One more Dem with feet of clay.

I didn’t yawn. I took the car out for an oil change and did some last minute Christmas shopping for stocking stuffers. Followed by a nice glass of cabernet when I got home and a nap in my chair. When I woke I checked the vote which was as expected. Wife and I said a prayer for the president and his family, gave thanks for them and called it a night.

After new years, I really hope to see Trump unleashed. Here’s hoping he cranks it up to 11 and starts to shred! Rock on big guy!

We went out for a catfish dinner. Nobody in the restaurant was talking politics.

Us, to ny times: who here gives a crap what you think about anything?

Impeachment Communist children, that will suffer because of this act, deservedly so.
