Ted Cruz is holding a massive campaign rally in Wichita Falls, a tiny town in north Texas, just inside Texas' Oklahoma border. The rally was scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM CT. Cruz and Don Jr. are expected to take the stage around 4:00 PM CT.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that America will terminate the 1955 treaty of amity with Iran after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) used the treaty to force the US to ease some sanctions against Iran. This treaty "regulates and promotes economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries." You can read the full text of it here.

Hundreds of law professors have signed a letter calling Brett Kavanaugh disqualified for the Supreme Court because of the temperament he displayed at the Senate hearing on September 27, 2018, with regard to alleged sexual misconduct. The letter, with original signatories as of October 1, 2018, has been circulating among law faculties. It has become the liberal law professor virtue signaling event of the year.

As a Catholic, I have been following the response of the Catholic Church to the detailed testimony of former Vatican diplomat Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò that the Vatican knew about the sexual abuse allegedly perpetrated by an American cardinal and covered it up. So far, American Catholics are giving the pontiff low marks for his handling of the scandal.
Just 3 out of 10 American Catholics say the pope has done an “excellent” or “good” job handling the church’s sex abuse crisis. The approval percentage is the lowest that Catholics in the U.S. have given the pope since the Pew Research Center began tracking views of his performance more than four years ago.

Yes, FAILED Democrat president candidate Hillary Clinton. A man showing anger over uncorroborated accusations of sexual misconduct "deserves a lot of laughter." Her comment was mainly against Kavanaugh's claim that the allegations are "revenge on behalf of the Clintons." But there's no doubt in my mind that the Democrats are playing games because they're still ticked that their precious Hillary lost.

Chuck Grassley, Republican Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has sent a letter to Christine Blasey Ford's lawyer requesting better cooperation. Grassley again requests access to Fort's therapy records already partially shared with The Washington Post, as well as all written, audiovisual or electronic evidence to support her claims.

Clearly, one of the industries helped most by the election of President Donald Trump is the book publishing business.
"Fire and Fury," "A Higher Loyalty," "Fear": three books about Donald Trump have each sold more than a million copies in the United States, a first that reflects Americans' fascination with their ever-surprising president. The great majority of successful books on politics have been written by politicians themselves -- or by ghostwriters working with them.
The latest entry in the political genre is from Townhall columnist, California lawyer, and witty conservative pundit Kurt Schlichter. Fun fact: He attended University of California - San Diego as an undergraduate at the same time I was a graduate student in chemistry there. Perhaps his writings in the campus newspaper (The Koala) affected me subconsciously, as I became an independent conservative 5 years after my graduation.

A German court has ordered the extradition of an Iranian diplomat suspected of involvement in a bomb plot over to Belgium, German media reported. Assadollah Assadi, a diplomat posted to Vienna, was arrested by German police in early July for planning an attack on an Iranian opposition rally in France. The event organized by an exiled Iranian opposition group was attended by several prominent figures, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.
