Because his September (2009) speech to a Joint Session went so well

… Obama decided to do it again on a jobs plan.

The 2009 health care speech was what I dubbed the “have your cake and eat it too” speech, in which Obama lashed out at critics of the pending House and Senate legislation while offering solutions which were pie in the sky.  Obama also called opponents liars in substance if not by term, prompting Joe Wilson to respond in kind.  (Plenty of links to the coverage of the speech at Instapundit.)

Joe Wilson’s shout out is what was most remembered, but it was Obama in attack mode which should have been the headline.  (Turns out Wilson was right, a point I made at the time.)

But don’t take my word for it, here’s what Larry Sabato tweeted that night:

But that was the old hyper-partisan Obama.  Not like the new one:

President Obama is preparing to fight a political war this fall on two fronts — the first against Republicans who want his job and the second against Republicans who want to make his job more difficult.

Obama is taking dead-aim at the latter group, targeting Congress in a fall offensive that the president’s reelection campaign hopes will bruise the overall GOP image beyond repair….

What possibly could go wrong?

this feels like one of those “death of the republican party” predictions we all heard about two years ago.

I wonder if the White House forgot that half of Congress is controlled by the Democrats. The Senate Democrats do seems to do a lot of hiding, or at least trying to look invisible.

“President Obama is preparing to fight a political war this fall on two fronts — the first against Republicans who want jobs”

TFTFY

This guy is the most divisive president I have seen in my lifetime. He has done nothing but demonize, and attack since he has been in office.

There are alot of black flash mobs that are going after white people, and I believe they are being provoked by this administration, and the black caucus.

(It looks like Charles Manson was right, there will be a race riot like we have never seen before….????)

they really believe that they get to define the GOP for the world … look how well that worked in Nov 2010 …

There has never been bipartanship in the history of the US. This is a media ploy to insure the dims get their way and to punish the republicans when they don’t fall into line. There have been republicans who tried to be polite to a bunch of scavengers occasionally but that’s all. It is my contention that we do not send our representatives to DC to get along. We send them to represent us and our beliefs. We expect them to hold hard to those beliefs and not compromise them.
